"Explosive Ibanez" Takes Flight

I kind of like this idea too... unfortunately you already primed them. Would a High Gloss black with the orange stencil affect the pickup's operation?
If I did this using the negative in orange, it would take away from the actual symbol. Meaning that the symbol might get lost with the transition from the orange body to the black pickups.

And no, the paint will not affect the pickup. Jackson's custom shop does it all the time.

Subscribed! OP is doing this the right way; taking his time and measuring/analyzing for hours before cutting once. I love all the detailed pics and explanations. This is one of the best threads of this kind I've seen. :hyper:

Thanks. My build threads are done this way, because I hate when people don't go into detail. I'm dense and need things explained to me. I also dislike when people talk about what they're doing, but post no pics until the bass is fully assembled. Sometimes I learn by seeing, better.

Sorry I haven't updated. I've been super busy. The color has been laying down, nicely. However, there were some spots where I sanded through the white primer. This allowed the original green body color to show. In my mind, I thought the orange would cover these areas... I thought wrong. I guess the safety orange paint is more translucent than opaque. You can kind of see in these pics.

To aid in hiding the green, I took the primer I was using for the pickups. I basically spot sprayed the problem areas (the edges).

I also did my first dusting coat of color on the pickups. I'm not sure how the paint will hold up with these pickups, but it will look good for the first few hours of playing.

While going through my parts, I found these old Dunlop straplocks that I don't use anymore. I've gone to Schaller. Paypal me $5.00 just to cover the padded envelope and postage. First PM, gets it!
Thanks!
