Famous Bands You Opened Up/Played For

Played before 'Ruby Horse' once - they were supposed to be the next big thing managed by Aerosmith's ex manager. We finished and the club emptied. Ha ha....

Played the same venue the night before Godsmack did once - don't think that counts though...

Played in a very infamous band for a while. Shall remain nameless though... :eek:

My band opened for Badfish a few months back. At the time, we were a trio consisting of me (on guitar/vocals) our other guitarist and the drummer (who I share lead vocals with) There was not, nor at the time was there a desire to have, a bassist :hiding:

As the (mostly) rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter, I switched to playing bass and singing. Always had a love for bass, and thought our sound would benefit more from bass than rhythm guitar. So now I'll write the song, teach it to the guitarist, do a couple play-throughs on guitar to get the song down as a band, and then play it on bass for normal practice/gigs.

My favorite was opening for New Grass Revival at a club in Phoenix AZ, called Toolies, back in the late 80s. They were fantastic, I spent their whole show at the side of the stage with my mouth hanging open. Afterwards I spent half my paycheck on their merch. I still have those cassettes!

Most recently, opened for the Fabulous Thunderbirds a couple of years ago.

I dont know if he really counts as a band but My group opened up for James Blunt. He's pretty short in person but was nice. We told each other You're Beautiful for about a month before and after the gig haha.

Subbed twice on bass a couple of years ago for a Long Island indie/power pop band called The Mondays. They just released a new album and played upstate at the NY State Fair, so you could say they have some regional acclaim. Had a blast playing with them, and almost wish their bass player had more scheduling conflicts so I could do that again!

All these were in the same band on the same night - 'Band du Lac' 1989, Wintershall, Guildford, Surrey, UK.....memorable night. It was filmed and is on audio too....somewhere.
