Unfortunately Pat Badgers doesn't get much love around here but he plays with a pick, and in this video on a Ric:

I use a pick. I play a P Bass and an Ibanez with active electronics (preamp) in a classic rock trio. I am heard better and am able to fill in the rhythm parts better, so that we don't miss the second guitarist. I use at least a 2mm thick pick. That's if you care.

  5. Dug Pinnick: King's X, Texas Poundation, and more
Danny Miranda: Meatloaf, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, more

  6. I play predominantly with a pick. Mainly cos my finger style technique is terrible.

Also guys like ellefson and newsted I look up too

  7. Pick for me is the best option.

Too lazy to see if they have already been posted:

    Glen Benton
    Shane Embury
Jerry Only (during the 70's and 80's)
    Jo Bench
    Johnny Hedlund

Hilarious thread. It goes two years and 60 posts before anybody mentions Anthony Jackson.

I'd comment, but I'm afraid I'll get another warning for trolling because making jokes about using a pick is frowned upon apparently....

  18. Old post but P bass, flatwounds and a pick are one of the prettiest bass sounds going, think Carol Kaye with the Beach Boys. I'm not that great with a pick as I discarded it years ago when I realized that real bass players only played with their fingers:roflmao: but since I put Labellas on my P bass I've been using a pick quite a bit and it has inspired me to get better.

Example: although there is an upright playing along with the electric and a 6 string bass.
