Picket Fences-it was on four seasons, so not really what I would call short-lived. But I don't think many remember it. The show had some really good actors on it such as Ray Walston, Fyvush Finkel and Tom Skerritt.
Anyone else remember "Alias Smith and Jones"? Would've been early / mid 70s, I think?
Does anyone remember one from the 70's about a man who drove around in a large RV with his two teenage sons? They lived and traveled in the Winnebego.

While looking for the show Elecrtovibe asked about, one other came up. Land of the Giants. Two seasons. It was cool because it used split screen and other effects unheard of on TV up till that point.
Going way back into time, '70/'71. Ran 24 episodes. NICHOLS, starting James Garner. A 1914 western set in Nichols, Az. Kind of was a wild west meets the 20th century scenario. Garner rode an old Harley belt drive motorcycle instead of a horse. Garner playing his typical self, the reluctant hero. Great show! Garner never failed as an actor!
I wonder how shows like "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." and "Firefly" would do in today's Netflix and Amazon Prime Video world? I have a feeling they would be on for several seasons.

Quirky show about the dying old west, right on the verge of WW I, and the technological/social upheaval it brought. I watched it mainly for Margot Kidder, I was just about at that age that, well...she was kind of a hippie chick Miss Kitty, kinda ambiguously nasty. As fate would have it, in the 2000's I stood in line behind her at a post office in Hollywood, after she had her mental breakdown; it just wasn't the same

OK, so this was bit before my time, didn't last that long, but I discovered it on ME-TV, "Mr Lucky"...

Pure 'Madmen' era fantasy, it was done by the "Peter Gunn" production team, it had the same 50's noir vibe about it, and a preposterous premise. It was loosely(and I do mean loosely)based on an early '40s film with Cary Grant, and they dug up an actor that strongly resembled him for the lead, plus you get pre-"Wild Wild West" Ross Martin as the sidekick. A 'legal' gambling ship, broads, booze, and occasional two-fisted action to entertain all those guys who came home tired from work(i.e. your dad)who wanted to fantasize about another life. As with "Gunn", the theme was by Henry Mancini, and I dig the cheesy lounge organ on the outro music.
Another one-season show, which I did catch a slight whiff of, but wasn't quite sure what exactly was going on, was "My Living Doll"

Again, pure fantasy for dad, it seemed like the "I Dream Of Jeanie" producers stole the concept from it. Bob Cummings(who I always found annoying)was an Air Force guy who was shepherding a tall, sexy, naive, life-like robot(played by pre-Catwoman Julie Newmar)built by the government. How this show got past standards and practices in 1964, I have no idea.
Moving right along, next year saw "Honey West"...

This only lasted 30 episodes, and was a private eye/James Bond-ish action show with the hook of hot, living large Anne Francis as the PI, with her pet ocelot and male side-kick. An early production effort of Aaron Spelling(who developed the concept a little further later with "Charlie's Angels), I'm surprised it didn't last longer, but maybe the subservient male assistant thing didn't go over too well, or maybe a lot of wives(i.e. "mom") weren't too pleased with their husbands checking Honey out.
OK, "My Mother The Car", what the hell was that all about?

One show that I loved as a little kid but had a short life was an anthology, "The Great Adventure"

It chronicled, with a bit of dramatic enhancement, several quirky obscure stories from American history. I guess the concept was too brainy or academic for commercial TV, even in those days.
