So I put myself on the Notify list for a DE-CL. How does it work, do the people on the notify list get the first shot when you do your next run? Sadly, I could really use one now, but I'm fine with waiting.

I would contact Frank or Boomertech here on Talk Bass and ask him how far out you are he is a great guy and will give you straight info

I rarely use pedals, but this is the pedal I wish was a part of my amp (actually I take that back; having it in front of my other pedals has made them behave MUCH better)...been with me on all my gigs this weekend and don't see that trend changing...perfect volume control.

I agree I wish this was a part of my amp most on board compressors are horrible I've had two amps with onboard compression a Warwick and a TC Electronics I think FEA Labs should license some technology to the bigger amp makers it would make a huge difference but come to think about it they would probably make some subtle changes to the design and find a way to rip the guys off

I am just very grateful that most of the amp manufacturers concentrate their design efforts on tone and power, and not so much on compression.

There is no low battery warning.

So I put myself on the Notify list for a DE-CL. How does it work, do the people on the notify list get the first shot when you do your next run? Sadly, I could really use one now, but I'm fine with waiting.

People are notified in the order that they are put on the list when pedals are ready to ship.

Also, can someone explain this for me?

Actually, it really is a great o/d distortion. Takes a while to dial-in, and longer to understand what all the knobs do, but the result is really fantastic.

I know what a side chain does but not in this context.

When the Dual-Band Compressor is deactivated the input signal is directly sent to both output jacks. It will act more like a Y-cable splitter when it is deactivated.

Since audio signals are AC signals, they need to be converted to a DC voltage that can be used for the threshold circuits. Two common ways to convert AC to DC is half or full wave rectification. In half wave rectification one polarity of the AC signal is discarded to make a DC voltage. With full wave rectification, one polarity of the signal is flipped over (inverted) and combined with the other polarity, so that both halves of the signal have the same DC polarity.

Audio signals are not usually symmetrical, so full wave rectification utilizes all of the AC signal information to create a more accurate DC reference envelope.

This is a very simplistic explanation of half and full wave rectification. If you are interested in more information, you can find some really good articles that go into much greater detail.

We will not be making the DBD because the Toshiba FET transistors that the HI-band distortion was designed around have been discontinued.

There are multi-band distortion pedals currently made by other manufacturers. If you want an analog unit, look at the IE QF2 or Fairfield pedal. SA also makes a digital multi-band distortion that is loaded with features.

This is very helpful thread. I'm a compressor Noob but have spent a lot of time on Bongo's page the last year or so and am ready to add one to my pedal board. I decided the FEA options are most compelling to me.

I just put myself down on the list for a DB-CL but after talking with Glenn about it I think I'm going to change that to the DE-CL. Seems like it might be easier to use and also be able to give me some warmer tones if I need it but could still be an "always on" pedal like the DB-CL at lower settings.

Anyone have a DE-CL demo up yet?

People do it all the time, usually its allowed within the clubs...especially when its a trade and not a sale looking for something within the club.

Well I was "convinced" to sell it, so it looks like I'm going to sell it anyway. Will definitely be on the lookout for a DECL or Opti-Fet though. The DB-CL was perfect for controlling the low end and fixing a couple other "issues" with my fretless.

I put myself on the wait list for the DB-CL last December, and to be honest, I often wondered if maybe I should just go another direction rather than wait. After all, it’s just a compressor, right? But I wanted what I wanted, so I held on.

Took delivery of the unit this past weekend, and all I can say is that it was absolutely worth the wait. I’ve been playing with this for few days and so far I love it. This is exactly what I was looking for. At some point during the wait, I began to wonder if perhaps the DE-CL wouldn’t be a better fit, given some of the reviews in this thread regarding its ease of use.

However, so far the DB-CL has been very easy and intuitive to operate, despite the number of knobs, flexibility and range of the controls. Every bass is different, but dialing the sound I want from each one has been quick and easy. The crossover frequency control really helps in that regard, particularly on those basses where I want to tighten up the low end a bit, but leave the highs alone or compress differently (more or less relative to the lows.) So far the process has been listening to the bass and thinking “more of this, less of that” and voila!

I’m not really big on effects, and even my past experiences with compressors has been less than satisfying. In general, I want effects that enhance my sound, not become my sound. I think the DB-CL will be that one pedal I take to every playing situation.

Just got mine this week also and have to echo the comments made by Alan.
Still playing with it and exploring the possibilities but I think it will be going with me to this weekends gigs (replacing my favorite Empress comp).

I am also on the waiting list for the DE-CL and I am pretty sure I am gonna get that one too once my name comes up on the list.!

I just got my DE-CL on Friday and plan to hook it up and play with it today.

Seems I had about a 4 month wait but I can't remember for sure. I think I was in the 2nd initial group.
You need to find out which group you are in and go from there.
