If anyone in the UK is looking for a 3015LF there is a company that has ONE left on Ebay. Item no 400207185788. £136.95 + £9 carriage.

I bought one from them last week and they were ultra quick at delivering it, less than 24 hours from paying for it to it being delivered.

They can also supply the mid as well but they have to be ordered through their website as they currently don't hold them in stock.

Getting ready to start my build this weekend. So prepare yourselves for the onslaught of newb build questions!

I noticed Home Depot has 1/2 birch ply (consisting of 3 plys). It looked to be pretty good grade. They did not know if it was Baltic or not. Does this matter? Should i source the plywood elsewhere?

Baltic Birch in half inch will be 9 or 11 ply, so the stuff you're looking at isn't Baltic. There is no crime in using other types of ply, but I'd be concerned about the fact that it's only 3 ply. For the Bill Fitzmaurice DIY builds, Bill recommends using nothing with less than 5 plies.

Crap, do not use. Will split, splinter and generally make your life miserable. If you're willing to dado every joint it's barely usable. Butt joints, and edge fastening require the 5ply min. Auraco.

Another experienced authorized builder is now listed on the fEARful website - Zack Brock of wavepulse acoustics. Great guys with loads of audio experience (I wish they'd send me their loudspeaker measurement equipment) keep emailing me, in spite of the neo speed-bump.

There are no stupid questions before the wood is cut, after the wood is cut, it's too late.

Ask away.

I'm looking at 1/2" Baltic Birch with 9 ply. It's not the lightest choice, but it machines well. The outer layers are much thicker than the HD stuff.

The HD stuff has an almost paper thin skin that splinters easily unless you have a very nice, very sharp blade. Been there, done that. A little tear out isn't that big a deal, as the edges get rounded over anyway, and you can Bondo to your heart's content before sanding. The HD stuff really splinters and then wants to peel.

I just called the local lumber yard, 1/2" baltic birch in 5'x5' sheets is $34.50.

I used regular 5-ply pine plywood from Home Depot for my 1st 12/6. Not as nice as the Arauco that came with the Speaker Hardware flatpack kit I'm currently building, but it was definitely useable.

My same experience with the Menards BB. No matter how well I scored the cuts, how sharp the blade, it still happened, that outer layer is pretty much paper. I'm going to check out some cabinet maker suppliers here, see what they use.

Hi Guys;
Hoping to get some suggestions here. I am considering building one of these. I don't know which one would be my best choice tho. Leaning toward a 15/6 as of now. Not sure if a 12/6 would be enough for most gigs or possibly building 2 would be the choice. I raely use PA support. I play some gigs where I use 1 GK NEO 2/12 II cab. Others I might bring 2. I tend not to like the harshness of most tweeters and think the 6 would do fine. So I'm looking for advice based on what you who use these would offer. I have a GK2001RB and a GK700RB for amps so no power issues. I have noticed the cube cabs too, are these an "add on" type cab or could be a single choice? I know the info is on here somewhere, but I don't have time to go thru it all so I would apreciate any help you guys can give. Hearing great things about these tho! Thanx in advance.........Peter
