Fed ex sucks!!!

I hate these stupid threads. My brother is a delivery driver and let me tell you, he absolutely breaks his tail 10-12 hours a day so people can get their crap in a timely manner. If you could see the number of packages companies like UPS and FedEx handle on a daily basis, you might actually appreciate the drivers instead of complaining about them. Also, YOU'RE NOT PERFECT

USPS where I’m at won’t even get out of their truck, period. If they can’t fit it in the mailbox, it’s going back to the PO and can’t be picked up until the following day. I literally had one drive away as I was feet from my mailbox waving my arms at them. She looked right at me and hightailed it after leaving a pink pickup slip in my mailbox.

I’ve not had any issues with fedex or UPS. Both are drivers that have had my route for a long time, are friendly, and seem to care that their customers are happy.

For me, my Fedex and UPS guys are GODS! I Never have a problem with them ever and am always happy to see them and always right around the same time each day.

But ..... USPS SUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!!!

My office is on the 4th floor of a small commercial building (with an elevator) and the guy whose had the route for 10+ years now REFUSES to come to the 4th floor to deliver my package. EVERY delivery ends up with an “undeliverable” message in the main lobby. This requires me to constantly watch out the window for him and then when I get the “undeliverable” update, I have to get into my Jeep and drive around the neighborhood to track that jerk down and we go through the same shizz every time I find him a black or two away.

ME: “Bro, it says deliver to 4th floor, you know I’m there waiting”

USPS JERK: “I’m not required to go past the main floor lobby”

Arghhggghhh!!

I’d pay a shipper EXTRA just to avoid using USPS ...

I couldn’t agree more. We get a lot of packages over the holidays, so my wife started leaving snack bars and waters In a basket on the porch, for all of the delivery drivers. They work their butts off and in some crazy temperatures and conditions! If it’s not someone saying FedEx is the worst then it’s UPS, USPS. Leave a note on your door with a signature. That’s all I have to do now, and my packages are there waiting for me. Even if I’m home I leave the note.

To be honest, when deliveries are rescheduled, I have bigger things to worry about in my life than when Another guitar shows up.

So ya order something online. You wait all damn day for the fed ex driver to show up. 5 o’clock in the afternoon you check the status and it says “customer unavailable”.
Bull freaking crap. I’ve been home since 7am. This morning. This is an every time thing with fed ex here. They suck

The summer of 2018 FedEx came to my house 6 times and then, all of a sudden, they couldn't, wouldn't be able to find my house. It took 3 weeks to get an amp from sweetwater, who, by the way, was NO help at all. I kept watching them drive by and not even turning on a blinker. I live up on a hill. I can see for a long way. Finally, I walked down to the main road and waited for them to drive by. They didn't even slow down. Next day, I jumped out in front of the guy. He stopped.

Christmas of 2018. The tracking reported they had delivered the package. It was a gift for my grandson so I was pretty upset. Still haven't seen the package.

Feb of 2019 been waiting , well today is day 13. They have passed it over to the South Point OH warehouse and then back to the Charleston, WV warehouse, driven right past house house...

From now on, when I order something online, I will first call and see who they use as their shipper. If it's FedEx, I'll find another seller.

BTW, UPS has never once not delivered my stuff. I've had the same driver for 20 years except when he's on vacation.

Whenever I buy a bass, especially a lesser expensive one I insist on anybody but FedEx because they require a signature, which is ridiculous..And I also insist on not requiring a signature anyway, but I also live in a safe subdivision and nobody will steal it and if they do, I have a front door camera. Twice in the past I had the same thing happened to me and I called them fuming stating that I was home all day. Ever since then, I have requested the seller to ship to the FedEx pickup center and go there at my convenience..

Where I live, they charge you an extra $2.00 for a signature regardless what you're receiving.

Yeah, I’m not buying it. Sorry. If any of this is true, you should have taken the time to file a formal complaint by calling or driving to the distribution center. Especially after you supposedly got to the point you had to throw yourself in front of a moving vehicle just to get your delivery. Haha.

Not selling anything. I did file a formal complaint. I'm not the type of person to fabricate or lie to make somebody look bad.

I usually ship things I think will require a signature to my office and things I don't think will need one to my house. Some exceptions, but that's my general approach. And I usually avoid fedex personally because they lost my SVT, but that's another story.

Had a pedal shipped out a few weeks ago, pricey but not outrageous, and the seller shipped fedex. Had to pay the $5 fee to request an evening delivery so I'd be sure I was home. Rearranged my plans for the night so I'd be there. And they they had a "delay" in delivery while the package sat a few states over mid shipment so I had to make arrangements to be home in their window for a second day in a row. Should have just shipped it to my office.

There's a UPS hub in my town about a mile from my work and a few miles from my home. They're always early with packages. Had a new bass show up a day early this week even with the holiday closure on monday.

So the business all of these companies are in is delivery. If you factor in the amount of packages being delivered on a daily basis, the success outweighs the non-delivery stories. The difference is, nobody starts a thread when everything goes right. If I think back on all of the years I have ordered guitars online, I would have to be honest and say that the majority of those deliveries were made on schedule without incident. I have bought a lot of guitars online since 2000. A Lot! And I have lived in very different places over those years in multiple cities/states. So maybe I’m just lucky?

Here’s another angle to look at this. I’m not sure about UPS, but I do know that FedEx employees at certain levels are compensated when they have a better delivery success rate. They are actually losing money over time if they are consistently failing to make deliveries.

Anyhoo... I’ll stop with the positivity. Carry on everyone.

Though I've seen UPS and USPS pull that trick too. Late in the day, running behind, they don't even attempt delivery, they just throw the tag in the mailbox...
For USPS it takes longer to leave a notice then to drop the piece since he has to scan the piece, fill out the tag and then scan the tag to link it to the piece. It is more likely the size and weight of the piece was more than that particular carrier could handle.

hence.

With regard to FedEx, Ground/Home, delivery is made by contractors. Contractors bid on areas of delivery and then hire their own employees. They are not employees of FedEx. I think that's the main reason I find their performance to be middling at best. Now, FedEx Express service is a different story. That is run by FedEx and I seldom hear complaints about overnight service.

That's true, I worked there for 28 years (1985-2013). When I started there was only Express and ground was added along with Kinko's (now FedEx office) and freight through later acquisitions. I was a trainer for many years and it was frustrating to see the ground people doing so many things (often safety related) that we told the express people not to do.

But, it's more profitable to keep the ground business separate and that causes some issues such as the ones noted here. In general, however, both UPS and FedEx ground do a good job. Plus, I'm getting my pension checks and that is good!

It doesn't always have anything to do with the size or weight, I've had it happen for small packages, too. Anything with signature required, basically. Late in the day, it ain't happenin', regardless of the package. They're on their way home...

I have shipped 400+ guitars via UPS with no problems (except one). Sometimes customers have a FedEx account and provide a return shipping label. Last month, I tried to search FedEx for a tracking number and it could not be found by the system. I called the regional FedEx office, their own search could not find the number either. Checked & repeated at least 3 times....I thought I had a real problem (like it was never scanned in and stolen) - then I found out the receiver searched the same number with no problem, and later got the shipment. So, HTF does that happen? Identical tracking number invalid for me, invalid for FedEx employee, but valid for one other person?
