Fender Rumble Club

Or tape an outboard DI to the top.

Fwiw... I may've commented ON the Rumble 500C and it's XLR/DI out. . That it would be NICE to have the OPTION to switch it pre or post. But. .... I've not complained about it. I've used my 500C on a fair few gigs where it's been going thru FOH PA and our sound engineers have never complained about the signal. . not once. I've personally asked em how the bass sounded and they've replied positively.
I've also told them about the post DI & that if I turn up onstage it'll affect their signal. Not once have any of them stated that there was any problem nor did they say they had to even adjust it out front.
So no doubt the info listed previously, about minor volume changes not making any difference to the DI'd signal, seem true.
Recently at a pub gig, I turned up from about 8 o'clock to around 10 o'clock onstage and the sound engineer didn't notice :woot:. Take from that what you will. ;)
+1. I've never heard anything but compliments from the soundman when going direct out from the Rumble... I also don't muck with my volume on stage once it's set. In addition, I always carry a quality DI in my gig bag. So I've never understood why some seem to have such as issue it being "post" only.

So... with the advent of the Stage series are they discontinuing, or intending to discontinue, the Rumble series?

? Hmm, both the Stage and the Studio say "Rumble" right on them, so . . .

Plus, "The Stage" can use, not just one, but two 8 ohm cabs at a time! So, why stop making them?

If Fender really wanted to make a killing they could sell different color grills, already fully framed, to make the silver front cabs match "The Stage", or to make the Stage and Studio match the silver front cabs! They already sell the grill cloth, but the frames, velcro and logo would make the switch instantly reversible.

The question, as I see it, is are the Stage and Studio considered version 3 (v3) Rumbles, like those produced the last 4 years, or are they version 4 (v4)?

I would say that it is far more probable that Fender would release whole cabs rather than just the grilles.

Well, a certain bass-related publication did suggest that they offer matching grilles for existing cabs...

The Rumble 100 makes a nice stool when you play your experimental fretless upright washtub bass at a gig. Just in case anyone was wondering. :bag:

Well .... I finally got around to getting a Rumble 500 head, going to use it at the open mic today, along with the Berg HS410, so the Rumble 350 gets retired to back-up duty, don't get me wrong, I liked the Rumble 350, but when you do an open mic, you'll get players who insist on fiddling with the tone controls, and when I tell the the mid is a parametric tone control, they go "oh yea, I know how it works", and 2 minutes later I have to spend 10 minutes actually showing them and answering questions, so one asks, why does it take so long to explain something as simple as a one band parametric, you'd be surprised what shows up, at an open mic, anyways here's some amp porn

Fellas, I’m about to pull the trigger on 500c. I have an Ampeg B100r combo that is great, but HEAVY, and my back and elbow need some relief.

Question is will I be able to get similar tones with the Fender? I have a Fender TBP-1 that I gig with through an Ampeg 212av, or an Ampeg PF115 (2), so I’ve already been getting a Fender/Ampeg tone already.

I would love the 500c, and potentially the 210 cab, to become a new lightweight gig rig.

I use a HP/LP filter to clear up the boom, as I use 5ers a lot to gig.

Thanks.

Ive gigged with a 500 head/210 cab for nearly 2 years now. The Rumble can get similar-ish tones, but the eq and tonal footprint are a LOT different so you may have to experiment a bit, but thankfully you can learn a lot here. So can you get a variety of great working tones from the Rumble,...yes. However it's not an Ampeg and they each have their own "thing" soundwise. I tell folks, the Rumbles sound like they look....that classic "Fender Bass" tone.
If you have one nearby, GC usually has Rumbles and Ampegs side by side...

I think the Rumble 200 will get you closer to the B100r tone, due to it being 15" loaded.... I've owned both the 500C and the 200C, and to *my* ears, the 200C sounded better - probably because I tend to prefer 15s over 10s...

I agree with the preference for a 15" but the OP could also look at the Rumble 200 or 500 head (only) with the two 15" Ampegs he mentioned. They are a few pounds more but, if he has them, he could save some $$ and he would be saving the weight over the combo he has now. Unless I missed something ;).

Thanks for the suggestions. I get the Fender tone via my Fender TBP-1 pre into a Peavey IPR 2000 into the Ampeg 115s, so my desire for the 500c is to have a lighter alternative to the B100r for practice and small gigs. I’ve got a Sansamp I could use to get the Ampeg tone if needed.

I do like the 210 sound as well, so it may be a nice alternative to the 15” tone.

I think you would be very happy with the 500c. The tone, to my ears, is a little more low mid forward than the classic Fender tone stack like on your TB1 (which is a very underrated preamp imho...lovely sounding) and a tad more straightforward and some different voicing switches.
Also if you find the need to sell the TB...I am all ears. :)

Rumbles are fantastic, easy to move, great looking/sounding gig tools imho.
