I have just started to learn bass. I am very excited. My Brother is a Luther and is completely reworking the Hamer slammer music man copy I bought as part of a package.

I am currently going through the bass buzz videos on YouTube and am learning a lot. Will go back around and watch a few of them for the hands on portions once I get my bass back.

So much to learn for sure. I have been messing around with gutair for 17 years. Never got serious about it. Bass however is much more to my liking.

Should be perfect, the R40 can handle more volume than many none Rumblers think.

grobe, you'll be surprised at just how "sufficient" your little Rumble 40 will be. My Rumble Studio 40 has been more than enough for my acoustic jams of up to two dizen other instruments (no drums) and my country & pop jams with up to 3 electric guitars, four acoustics and drums!

My Ampeg RB112 has defective knob on SGT section after 3 months evenv from repair/replace under warranty.

Email Yamapeg and they reply me " It is a mechanical part, it can fail. Regarding quality, we sell a lot of product. A few failures of a mechanical part does not justify an investigation by our Quality Team. If there are a considerable number of failures our Quality Team, of which I am a member gets involved"

Sound like they don't want try to fix the problem on my view.

If Yamapeg ignore that simple issue ( defective pot ), i will return back to Rumble world again.

Hmmm. Warranty period is warranty period. Did they understand you just want it fixed, not looking for an investigation into overall QC?

A tale of woe for my Rumble 200c. The hum and noise returned after two/three days clear. No amount of knob twisting would help. Did not want to open it up, apply any sprays, etc. -
don’t want to void the warranty. Bought new late Nov ‘22. Received repair authorization from Sweetwater, no problem.
Authorized repair station man says (after checking paper work and clicking a few computer keys) “Fender will be shipping a new one out for you. We’ll call you when it arrives”. They will not try to repair it, or even turn it on.
Should have a new one in two weeks…or two months depending on availability. At this point I am pretty sure I will sell the replacement as soon as I receive it and hopefully someone else will have much better luck with the Rumble D class amps than yours truly. I am casting about for an old fashioned used solid state head. We’ll see how I feel about it in the next few days, things change. Relying on my 40 year old Yamaha B100 more than ever.

I'm a bit concerned about Fender Rumble QC lately.

1. My first Rumble was used, 2-3 years ago. It's been rock solid.
2. Number 2 was bought during the big sale a few months back. It made Rice Krispies noises out of the box.
3. Fender sent a replacement. #3 works fine, but you have to push and wiggle the power cord to make sure it seats properly or you just get flashing LEDs on the control panel and nothing else. (I suspect a grounding issue). It works, but te power cord takes more effort than it should.

Combine #2 and #3 with stories I'm hearing here, and I'm a wee bit leery.

That is a bummer but, the new one may be the charm.

Actually, not unusual. I think the wood (or laminate strand) baffle made in Ensenada, Mexico shrinks when it goes from 80% humidity to the 10% to 30% humidity of Corona, CA (although we are having a rarely humid day today.
In times past I had a similar situation with my Rumble 150 and before that, with a Jazz-King. Simple fix: tighten the mounting screws a bit.

I've had a Rumble 500 for about 3 yrs now. I also have other bass amps that are very high quality, but this is a very simple and light load-in/load-out, so it gets used a lot.

I recently stumbled upon these comments about buzzing on Eb or A, which, coincidentally, was a recent issue with my Rumble. Yes, the mounting screws needed tightening, a lot. However, the real culprit was the horn. It screws onto the driver, and mine had loosened itself so much that every time I played a Bb, it sounded like the cabinet was going to fall apart. Simple fix was to remove the entire unit and tighten the horn. Just be very careful to not cross-thread, and you might want to put a dot of silicone or something to ensure that it doesn't loosen up again.

Knowing the master volume adds more compression is a serious game changer with my rumble tone now. For me there is a lot in tap compression-wise. Can juggle between having the master on half/three quarters or less compression and using the Drive volume as my master. Awesome to know thanks again for informing me!

Anyone found a good way to tilt the 210 cab with the head in place?
The magnetic head attachment is a fantastic feature, and makes it possible to tilt a Rumble cab with the head on… but I’ve yet to find a reliable, ‘works everywhere’ solution. I tend to rely on furniture at a venue, but is there a tried and tested solution that Rumblers are using?

hi all, can I start by saying what a useful and very mutually supportive club this is! I learned a lot reading through as much as I could.
I recently bought the Rumble 800 head after a lot of reading and over-thinking! I also have a pair of v3 112 cabs but I'm wondering whether they're a good match for the head? As you will know, they're rated at 250W each but the head can put out 400W into each. My thoughts are:

Option a) set the 800HD to 4 ohm mode and each cab will see 400W (max). In reality I'd never turn it all the way up so they'd see about 200-250W I would *guess* in real world situations. My issue here is that if I want to get really loud I might endanger the cabs and I am also unsure about how loud 2 of these cabs can go. I say that having never gigged this rig thank to CoViD though, so your feedback would be great.

Option b) set the 800HD to 2ohm mode and each cab would only see about 200W (max) - that's my guess anyway. This way they would never be overpowered but I'd be losing some headroom.

other options might be; speaker replacements to make them both 400w 8ohm cabs, get a third cab, sell them both and get 2 new 8ohm cabs that can do 400w each. ... basically ... what is a good cab combination for the 800 head??

For context, my situation is that I would probably never need to run the 800HD anywhere near full power. An honest 400w 2x12 rig will be enough for anything I'm likely to do but I can't seem to let this go. Too much reading and not enough playing at the moment!

First of all, I agree with your assessment of the 4 ohm mode with just two Rumble V3 112 cabs.

But I disagree with your assessment of the 2 ohm mode. The 800 HD will still output up to 800 continuous watts in 2 ohm mode with a 4 ohm load connected (just two 8 ohm cabs). [I dunno what, if any, disadvantage there is to setting the 2 ohm mode while using only a 4 ohm load.] You should connect, at least, three 8 ohm cabs to correctly use the 2 ohm mode, thus giving each cab a max 266.67 watts continuous which should be fairly safe for the 112s.

Plus, I must also apologize and amend my earlier advice about setting your R800h to 2 ohms for a 4 ohms load. I have since learned that the lower Impedance Switch settings also lower the voltage in order to get the same power out of the expected lower impedance, but without that lower impedance you do, indeed, get less power! I was wrong when I said the 2 ohm setting would still put 800w into a 4 ohm load. But I have not found a reliable guesstimate as to just how much less power you get that way! But, I still disagree with your half-power guess as too optimistic, as I think it would be closer to the 3/4 power ballpark.

As for your cabs, I'd really love to see a pic of your three Rumble 112 cabs with the 800 HD! But, alas, I don't know a reliable 'works everywhere' solution for keeping the head in the magnet cups on the top cab when tilting back. While there have been all kinds of tilt-back solutions shown here, I don't recall a head tie-down for the Rumble 800 HD. Sorry.

So, really just a belated "Welcome to The Club" and the all-important ... ... ...
