Fender Rumble Club

Curious if anyone knows a way to run my rumble 40 as a preamp into my Carvin Mb15 combo. Besides the instrument input on the Carvin there is an Ext spkr Jack and a headphone tuner Jack. Be kind of cool to see how the rumble would sound driving the Carvin.

Edit: ok checked the back of the Rumble it doesn't even have a speaker Jack so I guess that's a no go!

Wrongo Ye of little knowledge! Easy as pie! Take any XRL Mic cable. Go from the Rumble's XRL out into a Lo-Z to Hi-Z transformer and just plug it into your Carvin's input. Bingo-Zingo! Done!

@1stnamebassist

low-z to hi-z transformer:
Audio-Technica CP8201 In-Line Transformer

Plug a mic cable into the line out on your amp. Put the transformer on the other end of the cable. Plug the transformer into the 1/4 inch input of your Carvin. That's how it's done.
Ahhh! Thanks! I had an old direct box from the early 90's. I thought maybe that's what you were all talking about. I'll take a trip to GC tomorrow and grab this stuff and give it a whirl. Sorry for the ignorance, I've never done this before, I've always played with whatever amp I had at the time. This is the first time I've actually owned two amps at Once! I thought it would be a fun experiment!

Experiments are fun until something expensive blows up. I'm glad I asked *** I was doing here before I did it, or I may have started experimenting a bit too much.

In your case, what I don't understand is how going from the Rumble XLR out to the Carvin instrument input lets the Rumble preamp control the Carvin. Wouldn't that send a clean instrument signal straight to the Carvin?

1. Input uses preamp of device(amp)
2. effects send sends preamp of device output to wherever you're going (to an effect, to another amps input(which then uses that preamp as well) or effects return)
3. effects return bypasses preamp and sends signal directly to power amp of device.

Clear as mud?

Haha! Beats me! I don't have the rumble amp manual, I should go print it up. I guess if the signal coming from the rumble can be controlled by the preamp it would be fine? Otherwise probably just a clean signal as you said.

So wait, I'm tying my two Fender Rumble 500's with "effects send" to "effects return" on the second amp. Is that wrong? Should I do "effects send to input of the other amp?
This is right. You are using the one your bass is plugged into as your tone maker(preamp) as well as a power amp and speaker/cab. and then the second one as just the power amp and speaker/cab

You could go from effects send of the first amp into the input of the second amp if you wanted to use the second amp for a different tone

I have to go this route to go from my 100 into the 40(no effects loop) and it works fine but you definitely need to adjust for the increased input volume.

In the case of the Carvin MB15, it has no effects loop. Only one input. The volume of the line out on the Rumble changes with the amp's volume. It should work. The Carvin would need to be set as flat as possible.

That's what I was thinking. I guess I should keep the Carvin preamp volume turned all the way down? I just ordered the cable I need. It should be here Friday.
