Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

Bump
I want to use Studio as a preamp/fx processor only. For sake of transport ease I want to take head out of combo body and connect XLR Line Out to PA Line In?
Can Studio work without internal speakers?
(I guess it can like any solid state amp, but will preferably have second statement : ) )

Mine works just fine using XLR out and the volume at 0.

I've also noticed that I spend most of my time on the Stage trying to dial in my Rumble 100's tone. Like I've mentioned before, I think the Stage's most valuable feature is the stereo effects loop, and even that is situational. BUT, if the smaller Rumbles had it, there would be no competition.

I have a Combo 200 and have no problem dialing in the sound I want. I also have a Studio 40 and, after a lot of time playing around with all the various presets and customizations, settled on the same sound EQ settings as the 200.

In other words, I would have been happy with a standard Rumble 40 Combo for practice.

These are just my conclusions. Others may find its fun and/or productive to play with models and software upgrades. YMMV...

??? The Studio 40's got the stereo effects loop.

G, I forgot all about that. I meant that if stereo effects were standard across the Rumble line. ... ...

Um, ... er, ... ah, ... I dunno that the built-in Bright, Contour, Vintage or even Overdrive "effects" could justify making the non-modeling Rumbles into stereo internally. And besides adding another pair of Send&Return jacks, then you'd also need another XLR Out. With all that, you've added more cost than the non-stereo competitors and cut out much of your target customers!

Ya want non-modeling stereo amplification to use with stereo pedals? Get 2 non-modeling amps and have at it.

... ... Have you daisy chained your 40 into larger amps?

Why, yes, Dook. Funny you should ask. Yes, as a matter of fact, some of us have chained our Studios to other amps! That's how we found out that "chaining a Studio or Stage to a non-modeling Rumble works differently," as linked in the Connecting Combos Together section of your Rumble Club Wiki page.

In fact, I've even chained my Studio 40 from the two FX Sends to the inputs of my Rumble 500 combo and my Bassman 500 w/115 half-stack for up to 740 watts of STEREO bass effects! Of course, I didn't turn it up anywhere near the potential seismic proportions it's capable of, since I was at home with Mrs. Dog just a room, or two, away.

You make a fair enough point there G. And that's quite a sexy set up ya got going. I bet that Bassman sounds like honey.

Thanks for all your help G-Dog, yeah you're right about the update, that's the version i'm running, 60 slots instead of 50, but still no hidden patches, i've contacted fender, and the shop i bought it from, just waiting to hear back from them.
its not a deal breaker, i just like things to work as advertised, maybe its a sign to buy the studio 40 ;)

Ok finally got it all working, Fender sent me an email and with the help from you guys I’m now working my way through all the extras.

Fenders reply was
“The process you described was for amps on firmware below 2.1.4. The additional presets are found in the Tone app under "factory presets" You can select a preset from there and then select "save as" to put the preset wherever you want on the amp.”

it was the Factory presets that I didn’t workout, in my defence it was late here and I was a bit stressed out.

so thanks once again all.

Anyone using the 800 Stage as a cabinet? Looking to use it with my mark Bass head in some situations.

Seems like a huge waste of the Stage's versatile pre-amp, but you could probably run an instrument cable from the Mark Bass' FX Send to the Stage's Left (Mono) FX Return. That would use the Stage's power amp and make it act as a powered speaker for the Mark Bass' signal.

Do NOT plug the Mark Bass' speaker output into the Stage's speaker output! That could damage both amps!!

Thanks, Your idea would probably work.
But it seems the only way to do exactly what I want would be to modify the wiring to have a jack on the speaker line so I can unplug and then use it for the Mark Bass. I will probably hold off. My Mark Bass Cabs stay elsewhere but i have the head sitting here that I cannot use now.

This is the right place for Rumble modeling amp questions

Great! Hello, all. Looking forward to experimenting with my new Rumble LT25.

Has anyone compiled a tone list for the Rumble LT25, similar to the Droopy_TX Rumble Preset Experience? It doesn't look like we can download shared tones, but I'm happy to enter them manually.

Some of the existing tones seem straightforward, (like Ancient Mariner and Arry / Sweet Child / The Pot), but I have quite a few bassists whose tone I'd like to copy and I don't have the experience to say 'yeah, that's it', or to build them myself.

Cheers!

Did you try using the Desktop Tone App to look for the extra 20 presets? I haven't found a manual or webpage describing the Desktop Top Tone App, just that there are Mac (iOS) and Windows versions. There's an instructional Desktop Tone App Video linked here* and on the Rumble Wiki Page, in the middle of the Tone App Support section.

I found 3 different places linking to the Rumble LT25 manual, but none of them have been updated beyond the page 3 & 7 parts I posted about using Replace to access the extra 20 presets (which is wrong!). :rollno:

Edited to add: Yes! The Desktop Tone App video DOES talk about accessing the extra presets!

Why, JAC0! How's about checking in at the Fender Rumble Club and getting a membership number?

Sorry, JAC, we haven't had a Rumble LT25 owner take the time to list those settings like Droopy_TX did on his Stage 800. If you get around to doing that I'd be happy to post them there on the wiki.

Yes, unfortunately, it appears that the LT25 can't download shared presets from the Fender Tone Community. But have you discovered the additional presets you can download by connecting to the Tone Desktop App discussed here previously and described in that linked video?

Let us know how it’s going, will ya?

Attention: Rumble Club Wiki Edit Alert!

Thank you, @Miles_ONeal! Your new Combo Club Membership wiki page is a great idea that I just simply had to steal! And I've linked our new Rumble Club Membership Wiki page to the Membership Lists section of our Rumble Club Wiki page.

Thank you, Miles, for your innovation! :smug:

And, a note to you Rumble combo owners who may not know: The Combo Club here on TalkBass is a fine community of bass combo owners worthy of your consideration. Just please mind your manners there when they go talking about how great their X, Y or even Z combos are. Oh, and our own Rumbler Miles_ONeal has just recently become the New Fearless Leader of The Combo Club and you couldn’t congratulate him better than by posting a pic of your Rumble combo there and requesting a member number, if you don’t already have one. ;)

Rumble On!

Yep, installing the Tone Desktop App and updating the firmware was the first thing I did. I now have the full 60 preset slots on the amp and something like 86 tones to choose from in the App. Ideally, I'll rename them as I discover any tones preconfigured for specific bassists.

Aside from the tones I mentioned previously, I haven't been able to decode any more 'secret' messages in the tone names.

JAC, are you able to use something like Droopy_TX's preset template files to document the LT25 factory presets? Then, if you find any particularly good tweaks, sharing those files could help other LT25 owners get those same settings. ;)

We could make our own shareable LT25 presets web source from such files.

That's one of my goals, to generate such a list. As long as Droopy_TX doesn't mind me copying and pasting his work when there's overlap, I'll post it as I go. I'm most interested in getting experienced players to fill in the gaps to equate tone names with the bands that inspired them, but I suspect most of you guys opted for the Studio 40 or higher so that might be challenging.
