Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

Sorry. It's a known and published conflict. Here are 7ender's instructions that I forgot to link before:

Invalid Link Removed

PS: Many of us find it more convenient to simply use a 1/8" to 1/8" cable for streaming audio while using the Tone App via Bluetooth.
.
That's great...as long as your phone still has an 1/8" connector. Many of the new ones don't, so you have to buy a USB dongle with a headphone (1/8") jack.

I purchased a THX Onyx USB headphone amplifier so I can use my 250 ohm Beyerdynamic cans on my phone. The THX amp also has an MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) decoder if you feel like paying $20/month for a Tidal subscription that streams MQA-encoded audio. It can also be used on a laptop, just for the MQA decoding function.

I'm sure that there are simple dongles that just provide the 1/8" jack that are far less expensive, but don't provide an amp function for high ohm cans.

I'm sorry, but it reads like you haven't actually tried this "good solution" to report, for sure, if it really and truly is a solution in your case, relieving the stated problem, however clumsy, inconvenient, begrudging and unwanted. OR do you really and truly have a malfunctioning unit, even when following the manufacturer's published instructions?
.

ah! I see. Well I did use the 1/8 cable to test the music playback because my husband and I were arguing about whether the low end was adequate or not to replace our Marshall Washburn as the living room Bluetooth speaker. The studio 40 audio streaming sounds the same whether using Bluetooth or aux in. It's a little disappointing because on my rumble 500 the aux in does sound a lot better. The low end isn't modified to (presumably?) make room for the bass practice. I'm still wondering if anyone else has had this experience?

As to your question, which is a great one….I actually have not yet practiced with the aux in while running the tone app. I'll do so today. Yesterday, I did however, obey Fender's demand that I do not Bluetooth stream and Tone app fiddle at the same time… it seemed to behave if i behaved!

I did however "poke the bear" by attempting to use the usb interface (with the apple video usb interface) to make a video with the Mideo app while streaming audio and playing the bass. The rumble 40 immediately crashed and required a reboot.

Now, before you kick me off this forum for being a ridiculous trouble maker, this scrappy setup works awesome with the Fender Mustang Micro.

overall I'm loving practicing with this thing. So much better than using my bass with my son's Yamaha THR which was previously the only amp in the living room. The rumble 500 lives in the basement where my band rehearses.

yup…. I already have dongles. I'm pretty much a hoarder of dongles and adapters

I found it adequate in the bass department with the Bluetooth streaming. You'd need some additional eq to achieve really low bass I think since the baked in sound seems to be kind of flat. The one thing I didn't think about was trying the Global EQ to see if that affects the Bluetooth as well.

global eq has no effect.

my husband is not musical at all but he's an audiophile and he's really really picky. I almost had to file for divorce last night while arguing that the studio is adequate for basic household streaming. He used fighting words in describing how he feels about the sound quality. I can fix the low end by just playing bass to accompany the streaming

I will admit… the Marshall speakers we have throughout the house sound a lot better.

This is mostly off-topic, but since you are a hoarder of dongles, I'll share it. If you've seen it already, it's funny enough to watch again. There are a bunch of different versions of this same video, but with different subtitles. It is, of course, a parody, but there's more than a kernel of truth in it.

You make a very good point, there, Maarty! I got a new phone earlier this year and had to check just now. Nope! I don't have a 1/8" output!! That must be why I also got some Bluetooth earbuds about that same time. Yeah, that's the ticket. I sure did.

I must confess that I don't stream audio to my RS40 very often. Although I do have a 1/8" to 1/8" cable handy (apparently from my old phone), I usually just play songs out loud on the PC or TV in my music room.

B. Whoa! I looked up that BT speaker and found a Marshall Woburn II and III and holy moly!! As amazing as I find the RS40 as a bass amp, I certainly would not expect it's secondary BT streaming functionality to replace such a high dollar dedicated BT speaker!!! :woot:

ii. Too bad your phone (probably) can't stream audio to the Marshall while also running the Tone App for the Fender Studio! But, instead of replacement, maybe a tablet, or an old phone, could stream to the Marshall and you'd get the best of both systems?!? ;) (I have a couple of old phones that work great as mini-tablets via my home wi-fi.)

3. As mentioned above, I don't use the BT audio streaming at all and rarely use the cabled Aux In on either my RS40 or my R500c, either. But, when I do, I'm not too fussy about the audio quality, but rather more about my bass tone. So, my opinion on this is questionable. :(

f. However, I have read quite a bit here about what a difference the horn makes, if present, for playing audio thru a Rumble. IIRC, most opinions are that the horn being on helps the audio, but detracts from the bass tone. It begs the question whether to turn it on or off when doing both. :wacky:

Aha! That answers my original question. I wish you the best of luck in today's practice.

And, again, "I feel ... your pain" in dealing with this techno inconvenience. I find such shortcomings in every single e-device I try/use. [sigh] ... maybe someday ...

... ... ... I did however "poke the bear" by attempting to use the usb interface (with the apple video usb interface) to make a video with the Mideo app while streaming audio and playing the bass. The rumble 40 immediately crashed and required a reboot. ... ... ...

And, did this crash happen while following 7ender's demand recommendation? If not, perhaps it was again due to the App/streaming conflict, instead?

No worries. I, for one, see such in-depth discussions as the raison d'êtrie of such forums! Such detailed reports help every interested party learn to improve their experience, maybe even 7ender, themselves! Who knows, the Next Generation Rumble Studio may do as you wish!

Furthermore I, for one, would love to hear more about your adventures with the 7ender Mustang Micro! Being a 6-string guitarist myself, I considered mentioning it in my letter to Santa Claus. Now, for the life of me, I can't remember why I didn't!!! :banghead:

Nobody/nothing is perfect. Life is compromise. Unfortunately, part of "getting to know" anyone/anything is learning to deal with their/its perceived shortcomings. An overall net positive experience is a win! You mentioned a husband, so you already know this. :wideyed: Therefore, congratulations ... on both counts!

And please do keep us apprised here of your findings and progress. :)

I love the idea of using a second device for streaming to the Marshall… but it's actually kind of ideal that the streaming to the fender cuts the low end while I'm practicing because then I AM THE ALPHA BASS PLAYER!!!!

My husband is just sad because he wanted to steal the Marshall out of the living room and take it to his home office. Lol.

And yes. marriage is an exercise in learning to live with perceived (and real) shortcomings.

Love this discussion.

But, ... er, ... um, ... Wait, ... wha??? I thought you wanted better streaming sound from the Rumble? Now it's lack of bass is ideal?!? Ok, then ...

Why not a second device to stream to the Rumble via 1/8" to 1/8" cable while keeping the Rumble's BT on the Tone app with the first device?

BTW, any verdict yet on the functionality of your Rumble Studio being defective when following 7ender's demand recommendation, or not?

Nope, nope, nope, uh uh, I'm not going there. I'll offer advice and opinions all day on bass stuff, but I'm not taking sides in a marital negotiation. No way, no how! :rollno:

sorry for the delay!!

my husband wants better Bluetooth streaming. I don't really care about Bluetooth quality because that's not the point for me… I do like to keep him happy from time to time, but my needs outweigh his on this :)

I haven't been opening the tone app at all… using Bluetooth streaming or aux when I practice. It's been mostly fine…

I just had an incident where I had been bluetoothing a song and the bass cut out 2x for a few seconds and each time… but I "think" my iphone was transitioning itself to "bedtime" at the time. Bedtime is some
Nonsense where the iPhone tries to get me to have good life habits like going to bed. It's an automation where the phone is turning off notifications and some
Other random stuff. I thought it happened at exactly 10:30 a few nights ago too.

I'm leaning towards this thing being quirky and not broken… but not sure if I'd be confident gigging with this unless I turned off Bluetooth completely. What do y'all do?

on the bright side, I'm obsessed with Deep Rumble.

Yep, my wife got an Apple Watch for Christmas and we (meaning "I") had to setup her sleep schedule and all that stuff, too. Once again, "I feel ... your pain".

"Quirky" is a fair assessment. I use BT almost exclusively for the Tone App. Never had a problem at gigs or jams.

Wow! :woot:
I done learned something on the first day of this New Year!
(If you already knew this, please just roll your eyes to yourself and give me a polite, "That's nice, G.")

Prologue:
Many of you here are probably familiar with [0]=289525&c[thread]=1118826']my frequent warnings about using a single 300 watt Rumble 115 cab(s) with the 400 watt Rumble Stage 800, Rumble 800 HD head and the new Rumble 800 COMBO, collectively called Rumble 800s. But a recent suggestion of setting the 800's Impedance Switch to its lowest ohm setting for a lower power output seemed a possible workaround, other than just simply keeping the volume down. :wideyed:

Epilogue:
Now, I have found confirmation that this is quite likely the case. When connecting a single 300 watt Rumble 115 cab to a Rumble 800, set the Rumble 800 HD head's Impedance Switch to 2 ohms, or the Rumble COMBO"s or Rumble Stage's Impedance Switch to 4 ohms, to lower the power output closer to the 115's 300 watt rating!

So, I now feel much better about all you Rumble 800 users with a Rumble 115 cab. I always cringed at the thought of overpowering those cabs! Now, I feel like your cabs are safer with this workaround. :D

Rumble On!

I'm an American expat living full-time in France. So, The Maartian in the English-speaking world, Le Maartien in the French-speaking world. My last name is Maar, so that explains the spelling.

You will love the Stage 800, I am sure. Let us know how it works out for you.

I purchase almost all of my musical hardware (basses, amps, keyboard controllers, stands, etc.) from Thomann. I've been very happy with their service. Who do you use?

Here's an example of the Y cable. This one is 3 m long. There are shorter ones available.

https://www.thomann.de/fr/the_sssnake_ypk2030.htm
Bonjour le Maartien ;-)
Thanks for the link
I use Thomann sometimes it is a good shop
Yeah I'm sure I will love the Stage 800, in fact I Received it yesterday <3 and it rocks !
Love the quality of the sound , the choices of amps, the effects, the app, the pedal, Best toy I bought ince a long time :D
I fact I ordered it with Gear4music Invalid Link Removed
I think it was a no brainer because, by default, they give 5 years warranty and for 56 euros more you get a whopping 10 years warranty !! for a device with such complex electronics and software, it will make me sleep much more peacefully to have this insurance.

And I don't regret because it was the last piece available and the next batch is planned for 4-5 of may !! :-/
(may be the china covid crisis is for something ..)

Look this is my gear, I upgraded from a marshall killburn connected via an interface audio to the rumble stage 800, it's a huge difference ! it's such a pleasure to finally really feel the low end strokes on my bass :D

ys5j.jpg

And I agree, connected marshall speakers are really excellent for playing music, I love my killburn.
I compared with the bluetooth casting on the fender rumble and it is true that the sound is not as good (but much more powerful !!! :D ). In fact I expected worse, it's pretty good. It would be nice if they would add an equalizer setting with a next update of firmware, it could become a killer party soundsystem :D

I have a question, I think I already see somewhere, but I think there is a list somewhere like an excel with the differents amps, effects with a more detailled description of the studio rumble amp ?

You're welcome! Your logic makes good sense. ... ... ... Whichever you choose, we stand ready to welcome you into membership in the main Fender Rumble Club thread. Just go there and tell us about your Rumble, and share a photo if you will (but not required), to get your free, unique Rumble Club number. .

Yes, Arny, there is a spreadsheet list of all the various Stage & Studio models with descriptions! It was developed by our Rumble Stage & Studio dedicated Rumble Club member @Droopy_TX and is intended to enlighten our main Rumble Club thread members. :D

I am sure that you now want to join our little the Tone App Support section since you've got the great Rumble Stage 800 to play with. Just go to the original your Rumble Club Wiki page and tell us about your new amp, and please include that beautiful photo of it! ;) [hint, hint]

So, at the risk of getting ahead of myself, I will now reveal that "secret" information reserved "exclusively" for our main Fender Rumble Club thread members to you! :woot: In Rumble Club of main Rumble Club thread is a sub-section called "The Droopy_TX Rumble Preset Experience" with links to his DECODER files with the lists and descriptions you seek. The files are stored in Google Docs for safe keeping, and are available in MS Excel .XLSX format for downloading & editing, and in color, or black & white, Adobe Acrobat .PDF formats for visual reference & easy printing. :smug:

Please tell us here, in this thread, how you like these "secret" DECODER files. :)

I got a studio 40 for Christmas and I'm a big fan of Joe Dart. I came here to ask if anybody knew how I might get as close as possible to Joe's tone with the fender tone app

Well, howdy there, Brainy! Welcome to TalkBass in general and to this sub-thread of the Fender Rumble Club in particular. We're glad you found us. Please click on that link and tell the main Club thread about your Rumble, even better to include pix if you can, though it's not required for membership.

This is the right place for questions and discussions about the Rumble bass modeling amps, though. But, I'm sorry, I'm not very familiar with Joe's tone. Do you know what amp(s), cabinet(s) and effects he uses? If not, maybe you can goggle it up? Then just choose the preset on your Studio that most closely matches. Or create a new preset of the same, or similar, gear. :)

Hint: My post immediately above yours may help you to find the right preset, or the gear to create your own new preset, if the listings in the Stage and Studio manual are not clear enough. ;)

Or maybe someone else here can be of more assistance?

Attention: Rumble Club Wiki Edit Alert!

I'd like to thank my consultants, they know who they are, for their help in editing and reorganizing the Rumble Talks links on your Rumble Club Wiki page. It is hoped that this will make the Talks easier to search visually for desired topics. While doing this, I also offloaded all the of the pictures from the Rumble Artwork section to their own new Rumble Artwork wiki page. This should improve the page loading speed of your Rumble Club Wiki page.

Thanks, consultants, for your perspectives and for sharing your skilz with this great community.
