Florida Bassists Club

I grew up in Cocoa, and spent 38 years there. Played many gigs in Brevard - Riverdeck lounge in T'ville, Sutter's Mill in Cocoa Beach, tons of private parties, BCC Circle K beer bashes, and even a jazz cruise up and down the Banana river once. Did a Joe Realino benefit at Brassy's as well, among many other notable (and not so notable) gigs.

Brassy's was a great place. Long gone now as are most of the places you mentioned. Where are you at now?

Florida Bassists - the company may have moved me to Georgia, but they didn't take Florida out of me. If you're up for a bit of a road trip, come hang out at my place in Lawrenceville (just outside Atlanta on I-85 North) on Sunday, 18 May. I'm opening up the doors to my home at 1:30 in the afternoon for good friends and traveling bassists to hang out and jam. At 6:30 that evening, this little GTG will feature a private living room concert performance by Michael Manring.

Yes, you read that right - I said Michael Manring. More info over in my thread in the the GTG/Social section on TB. Let me know if you'd like to plan to attend.

You are either lucky, or broke, lol!

I love my Ric, but that place is insane. Also one time I went in to mess with an Eden amp(didn't wind up buying it) and they offered to pick me up lunch. I declined, knowing I wasn't buying the amp but that was ridiculous.

It was a while back, when Gard was there. Grasshopper was like "I'm goin to get some subs, want one?"

They seem like a friendly bunch, and I was just some kid in jeans and a t shirt.

Awesome, last time I went I had family waiting on me (my wife) so I was rushed. I'd love to hang out there for a while and try stuff out - but not until I have some $$$!

That place is sick. I got dizzy just spinning in the room looking at bass after bass like some little twerp and they kept asking if I wanted to play a bass and I laughed and said I wanted to play them all and then the guy joked and said NO. I went to go look at a MVP 6 and they had just sold that one. Not that I had $4800 on me, or in my bank account. They had a couple of HexaBuzzes, but I have a PentaBuzz that I just got redone completely.
