This bass is epic and I believe, for me, there is no better bass in the whole world. Nowhere, never ever!

I've seen it on the Fodera website and it whispered in my ear: "Take me home!". :D

Jason's description of the bass's unique features is exactly right. The bass is incredibly resonant. When I recorded the Nardis theme I was totally surprised by the sustain. Almost one half of the clip is the final chord fermata. It rang forever and I finally had to dampen the strings in order to keep the clip short enough.

I am sure this must have been asked already at some stage, but I'll ask it anyways. :-)

What does the "tone block" do, apart from hiding the part of the neck that runs through the body on neck through basses on which no back facing is wanted or (maybe?) when no suitable piece of wood for a back facing can be found?
And how about set neck and bolt on basses( in case those get "tone blocks" too)?
Does it have an actual function beyond the cosmetic ?

Thanks man, nice of you to respond...both beautiful but the fretted is just stunning. I love the "smoky" look of the burl...havent seen that too much. Dont know if anyone has ever said this but there is a bit of Georgia O'Keefe going on right in the center of the body there....know what I mean...;)

I am pining for a fretless 5 right now, but no cash for it yet. The fretless just makes me want to drool.

To speak to a previous discussion in this thread about de-fretting a Fodera fretted bass, interestingly, my Beez 6 is often mistaken for a fretless. I get guys coming up to me thinking it is a fretless because its natural tone is so singing and harmonically rich, great sustain. (I wouldnt ever de-fret it though....) :eek:

Most believe it does have an impact on the tone.

I agree since it's a large chunk of wood, it has to have an impact on tone.

Yes, but not on my work computer....I'll put some up when I get home....I assure you though, enviously speaking, its not as nice as 'fretless4string"s bass!
