While we're on the subject, where do most of you set your preamp boost to, and why?

I'm not sure I see a high advantage to running it at super high levels. I thought it made sense to keep it close to the passive volume in case I want to switch. When I first got, it was the hottest active bass I'd ever owned.

I set my personal basses up with just a bit more boost than in passive mode...I want to be able to hear the difference in volume, but do not want to come anywhere near distorting the preamp by demanding that it amplify the signal too much.

My other main bass is a Rob Allen and they have very hot output. As a result ideally the Fodera is fairly hot as well so I don't have to reset things when I switch instruments in the middle of a set. I actually tend to roll off the vol on the RA at the bass though as I have yet to own a bass with a preamp that is as hot as the RA. The other solution is to run a Paradriver and dial back vol and tweak tone on the RA so I'm basically eqing the amp for the Fodera.

That was exactly what we did and the Emperor walked out the door to a very happy customer - so much so that he kissed it on the way out :)

Now replaced with an Anthony Jackson 5 double cut - also a very nice bass (albeit a little on the weighty side).

Yes, there is a blatant hint about what is to come this evening...you guys deserve it! And, yes, there willbe 31 (not 30) of them, but that is a story for another day.
