Fodera Club Part XI

This is actually not part of the Brazilian Rosewood Burl that I showed Donovan...it is from one other piece of 100+ year old material that was actually part of the same stash as was used on my Monarch (obviously a different part of the tree).

The body shape is different. The customer was very specific about what they wanted done with the upper bout and the cutaway for the lower horn...

Finally, and sadly, this piece of wood only yielded enough material for three tops...all of which are long since spoken for. There will be two more instruments (both actually going to have one-piece tops) with the same top material built over the next twelve months.

Cheers,

J

That has to be one of the most stunning basses I've seen come out of the Fodera shop. :hyper: Wowza.

Absolutely agree with you on that.
Is it too late to change my spec's....Just kidding.
This is how I imagined that single-pup idea of mine, but with the MG control layout.

Just Thumpin, any chance on a heads up on how she sounds?
I can't wait the two weeks plus for the Newborn description..

Check the site later today...

Thanks J.

Yes - I also had the impression that the top that you've shown to Donovan had a more "swirly" (with sapwood) character !? (from what I could saw over the distance ;))

I tend to wake up early and work a lot...probably too much. But it IS really difficult not to when your work and play are the same thing...

J

Dude, I just realised you replied at 4:40AM. At the hour you should still be under the duvet not replying to our whimsical requests. Serious props to you JT. Big thanks from the boys over the pond..:-)

I use a markbass little mark II and a few years ago I ordered a markbass gig bag for it. I ordered it from MF and it seems like it was on back order for a few weeks. I wasn't in too much of a rush to get the case so I was fine with the wait. Then one day I got a box from MF and inside I find a cheap clarinet instead!! (probably a $200 plastic clarinet)

I had to explain it on the phone to three different sales people before they finally set me up with a shipping number to send the clarinet back to them. Then I had to wait another three weeks before they sent the gig bag.

How does a gig bag turn in to a plastic clarinet!?
It's my turn now.

My wife ordered me another Hercules stand for a new bass I recently got, a stand like the one pictured below (not that anyone will notice the stand with an Emperor in front of it! :smug: )...

And this is what Muscician's Friend sent us:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The shipping statement says that they shipped a "Single guitar Stand wiht Folding Yoke Regular", so we'll see how much of a hassle we'll get from MF as we try to return it and get what we actually ordered.

The statement says our order had 11 "non-returnable items included" which is curious given that the only thing ordered was the bass stand, and the only thing in the box was the lighting gadget. They must not want us to return the bubble wrap pieces.

Just think of that poor DJ waiting on his disco lights, wondering what on earth to do with a stand for an actual musical instrument!

It looks like we are going to hit 50 pages soon again and another chapter of the club thread will begin. Wow.

Jason not only revived Fodera, he revived the Fodera club thread.

JT certainly has..
You know Musicians Friend have really captured a niche in the market. You say you need a new guitar stand and place the order, but MF (No profanity intended) say, "Oh no you don't." What this customer really needs is set of bandstand Saturday Night Fever Disco Illuminations for that Spanky Fodera"
Brilliant idea, why didn't I think of that?

HAHAHAHA :D That made me do a spit-take on my laptop :o

I played with the idea of not telling MF about their mistake when they sent me the cheap clarinet, but I did not think that I could actually make anything off of it. But you might be able to find a buyer for that! There are plenty of DJs around.... I'm kidding of course, as I'm sure there are a few laws against that kind of thing. :hiding:

PS: by "plenty", I mean way too many,...
