Marcus is also someone that I always can enjoy listening to - I hardly listen to Bassplayermusic - but when I want to hear sth. of that I always listen to his playing .... somehow I like his ideas most...

1. Here’s a similar story but in this case the instrument wasn’t the specific the target, it was more a random hit by an opportunist.

2. I think there’s a question mark missing at the end of Stues’ sentence (just a typo) he’s speaking rhetorically, no?:scowl:

Sorry, but "getting away with it before" doesn't make it smart. Doesn't change my opinion on the matter... he was careless... way too careless considering what he was carrying around. Consider the case of moving a valued piece of art from one museum to another... do you think they'd just let one guy walk out the door with a painting to his car to drive it over? I don't think so. We disagree.

Agreed. I think the main point is, security is relevant to the specific scenario. As long as we're smart about where we are and who we're with and what we're carrying around, we're good.

IMHO, the guy in that article was not, which is why I'm harshly critical of him... and now as a result, who knows when that fine instrument will be heard again... we all lose because of his actions. *sigh*

Regardless, steubig is just a lot nicer of a guy than I am about this case. :)

My issue is, and maybe along the lines of what he's really trying to say is, a Fodera, while highly valuable, is not an irreplaceable and nearly priceless object that has huge historical significance in addition to it's musical value. I may be being a jerk about the whole thing, but it really bothers me that much. Oh well. :)

If I get zapped for my Fodera, it would suck but insurance would buy me something the same or possibly better. Not the end of the world.

In any case, back to Fodera news.... I pick my Monarch 5 up in under 4 weeks. Man, a year is a long time to wait. Funny, I ordered my bass on Feb 24, 2013 and am picking it up Feb 25, 2014. Pretty damned close to the lead time quoted! :hyper:

my point was that people have asked if other guys take their foderas to gigs and if they're worried about that.

i just thought it was a funny slant on that issue. not trying to make any *big statements*. really, a strad is the very, very high end, but any reasonable fiddle or bassoon can be way up there as well.

in general, i'm vigilant when i walk and drive.

Oops! (Quick google search) and so it does.. On this side of the pond tw*t is just a substitute for the word twit..i.e idiot. When did you guy's turn such an innocent word into something so %*^{%}*^?

Anyway, that makes it even more appropriate to the taser'd violinist..:D

In England "tw*t" has more than one meaning.
