This just in -- chicks dig millionaires.

Yep, looked like NBC was pretty happy to exploit that angle all day during coverage of the Indy 500. For me that was a much more compelling race, even though most of the 38 lead changes were highly orchestrated.

The 600 isn't over yet... and I haven't watched hardly any of it... but I already know F1 will be the worst race of the day by a mile.

Indy was decent. I've never tried Huski chocolate, or even seen it for sale. Am I missing out?

It’s a hot chocolate drink, apparently. I’ve never seen it for sale either much less tried it. Something tells me we’ll be seeing it on grocery store shelves soon enough though.

I’m not a big fan of red flagging a race with a few laps to go, but at least the stewards allowed Ericsson to pull the same weaving moves that won for Pagenaud a couple of years ago, for netter or worse.

Wonder if it costs more or less than breaking one's car in half...?

To Schumi's credit, the car didn't break in half, just the gearbox, suspension, wing, and all that was attached to them, nothing more.

Apparently in the wake of Grosjean's crash from a couple of years ago, the gearboxes on the current cars are designed to snap away a little easier in the event of a crash.

Yesterday I was able to have one screen for business and one screen for racing here at work. Monaco to me was... Monaco. At the same time that I feel like the racing isn't the most exciting on the calendar (at least with the current cars being as big as they are), it's still Monaco with all its tradition and prestige. I still respect and am in awe at how quick they can squeeze around that place. To come within literal inches of these walls going around corners but not make contact (most of the time) is amazing. I wasn't able to tune in until about ten minutes before the race started and there was no small amount of confusion/frustration from the commentators about the delayed start despite most of the heavy rain having apparently moved on for quite a while.

I'm happy for Checo. How he was able to keep that pace with tires in that condition is beyond me. I wasn't aware that Sainz has yet to win a Grand Prix. When I heard that I really started pulling for him, even though I like Checo. Absolutely gutted for Charles, though. He wasn't going to just finally finish his home race but had a win in sight and then the whole debacle with bringing him in to pit happened.

(Non F1) The Indy 500 was fun to watch. It's always interesting to see the juxtaposition between F1 racing at Monaco and IndyCar racing the 500. Finessing the world's top race cars around the tight and twisty streets of Monaco vs 230 mph around one of the biggest oval tracks in the world. That must have been such a gut punch for Dixon to have gotten that drive through penalty for speeding crossing the pit entry. But man what a finish for Marcus Ericsson.

Didn't get to see much of the 600 but from what I saw it looked like a good race, one of the better 600's in a long time. A "big one" at Charlotte? I think the drivers are still trying to figure out the Next Gen cars but lots of good side by side racing and three- and four-wide at a track you don't normally see that at.

The best day of the year if you're into racing. I'm into just about all forms of racing, though I'd say I'm more of an open wheel guy.

Just like modern passenger cars with crumple zones to dissipate the energy from a crash away from the passenger cell. It does make for a much more dramatic looking crash, though.

It seems the rookie racing director has a lot to learn about how to run a Formula 1 race.

And, I would suspect a whole lot more people were in a similar state of confusion/frustration over the whole affair, folks with names like Horner, Wolff, Binotto, etc.

Monaco is a poop race. While the location is ritzy and a geographically impressive compared to other circuits, the event is all about qualifying. Either F1 needs to make decision to shrink the cars or they should move on... or at least reduce Monaco's inclusion on the calendar to once every few years.

On to Baku, a street course done right!

I don’t think F1 make much of anything from Monaco, it’s the only race that pays F1 basically nothing. That’s why it’s at risk when these new races are paying F1 millions, or with Miami F1 is fronting the whole thing and reaping all the proceeds.

My wife couldn't care less about open wheel racing and even she got upset over that.

Then she felt almost the same about Larson after the Dillon-Divebomb. A very emotional race day in our household

If there is going to be a change made and if you were Zak, who goes in the car? De Vries, Vandoorne and Colton Herta are listed as their '22 test drivers... but Hulkenberg and Piastri appear to be better options.

Its all about history with Monaco and it was fine when you had much smaller F1 cars to navigate around those streets but not so much these days, cars have out grown the course

Same with Zandvoort. Sure it's nice they're returning to run there... only the cars have grown too big.
