Their beard trimmings have more funk than I'll ever have....
Do you consider this funky? Just curious.
On a scale of 1-10, I've got 0 funk, so I'm not the best judge.
This is seriously funky band from Arkansas that would play in my area when I was attending Oklahoma State. They were a great live band, and I wish they'd been bigger because they deserved it.
If you can find a copy of this album, New South Soul, grab it. I have a CD copy that I bought at a show and will never part with it.

I don’t know about Vulfpeck(although that front keyboardist seems a little full of himself in a dorky way), however...
Having spent most of the past week listening to Nina Simone, that song is the first thing that came to my when I saw the thread title!
It ain't FUNK! Typical watered down, super fast gibberish jamming basically that most real Funkers would never do. Not appealing at all to me.
Can we agree that music doesn’t have to be “funk” to be funky?
i'm not sure! if it's funk = funky. but if it's "funky" without the funk = a knick-knack from your last vacation. (?)

Yeaaas, they’re basically the George Clinton of rich white kids from Ann Arbor. As legit funky as it gets. Curtis Mayfield g’head and step back.

I tend to dig most of their stuff, the music puts a smile on my face. Whether it's true funk, meh what do I care. Music either moves you or it doesn't. And what moves one person might be garbage to the next person.
Not funky - this is music performed by guys that think Funk is a technique, instead of a style.
Still, this will appeal to a certain demographic with a certain type of buying power that exists in large numbers that will call it Funk, and since might makes right.....
I still wish they’d quit making it sound like they run their entire mix through a cheap compressor pedal. Also, the spasmodic large body movements don’t make it any funkier - this didn’t work for Flea and it doesn’t work for anyone else, really.

"Funk" is a genre but "funky" is also a quality that many songs/bands/genres can have. Like... Led Zeppelin is actually pretty funky sometimes.
Funny how Vulfpeck’s members being white has come up twice here so far...
My funk-meter gives it 2 and small change. My funk-meter likes it nasty, get-down, and dirty-a$$; this is cute.

I've learned most of its gets funkier vol I. fun bass line. I wouldn't really call it funk. Its quite the jam though. I really like vol 1.
