Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

This is the usual cause. When opening the editor, it looks for the last-opened patch. If this patch has been moved into a different folder then it can’t find it and crashes.

Work out what the last patch you opened was and move it back to the folder it was in them launch the editor.

I’ve emailed @Andras Szalay to ask if the editor can be updated to make it just load an INIT patch of it can’t find the last-loaded patch.

If you have no joy with that method then uninstall the editor and use App Cleaner by FreeMacSoft to remove the residual files and then reinstall the editor. You’re not the first person who’s done this this weekend.

No need to reinstall. There is an easy fix of the problem:

Open the following file:

c:\Users\YOUR USER\AppData\Local\FutureImpactEditor\settings.ini
(replace YOUR USER by your USER NAME)

and delete the lastfile entry

[midi]
indev=off
inBdev=off
outdev=off
[gui]
guiscale=1.103092783505155
[program]

lastfile=D:\...........\Future Impact 1\Patches\Patches All\02\96-P0374_ta_Zach_Proton_Sounds_15_4Saws.pr3

Zsolt has fixed this issue now. It was a Mac-only thing. Not sure if he’s uploaded the new version though.

My 80's synth group is back at it for an outdoor gig this week, and I'm finally getting a chance to dig into rev3, and honestly I'm loving it. I was wondering, though, for basic setup, how do you "calibrate" the output knob to a set-and-forget position, so you only have to mess with patch Level to even different settings out? Obviously the Input level should flash red on the loudest passages only for the best tracking, but how do you then match bypass and Output volume in a way that is Unison? I don't have the vocabulary to describe this exactly how I mean it, but hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to say, thanks everyone!

The factory patches were tweaked to balance levels.

For any other patches, my suggestion would be to play all your patches into something which gives a visual readout of dB level and adjust the final output in the editor to match the levels, save them and rewrite them to the pedal. Then balance your dry bass with any patch using the output knob.

Sorry, not only Mac related. I had the same issue in Windows ....Normally this program behaviour should be avoided by appropriate programming.
I’ve tested this in Windows 10 today and cannot cause it to crash. I created a new file, saved it, loaded into the editor. I then tried various things individually before reopening the editor: changing the file name, moving the file, moving the directory, deleting the file. I was not able to cause the editor to crash.

If you can cause the editor to crash in windows then please document the steps you did and the version of Windows you are running.

I am Using windows 10, all updates installed, 64-bit editor. At least it crashes in my system. I thing it is a failure of programming.

With every version it crashes ...View attachment 3990028
Please document the steps that you do to create the crash and post them.

That screenshot is what the editor is supposed to look like when it opens, it does not load the name of the last opened program. Is that fact that it displays “lastprogram” what you consider to be the fault? I guess it might be nice if the actual file name were displayed. @Andras Szalay, is this possible?

Press the + Key and it crashes ... At least on my PC

@Hagen_woodrock Have you clicked Load and directed the program to the location of your patches?

Hello Dave, thank you for your support. I know the way out, but at the first time - not knowing the reason why - it was strange to me, that the program simply crashes. It has been reported that crashing only refers to the Mac editor. If there - any time - there should be an update of the editor, both versions should be corrected, Mac & Windows. This was my concern.

Perhaps, having both editors installed at the same time, if that is the case, and it appears to be so, is the source of your crashes.

I had crashes on a windows 10 system. I can't remember what the cause was...I think it may have had to do with not being on channel 1 and trying to upgrade to the version that fixes that problem. I think I did a full uninstall and re-install. Describe what happens when you say "it crashes" - you mean it opens up and just shuts down? Mine was crashing when I'd try to select MIDI and connect to the FI.
