G.A.S is ridiculous

At some point you may want consider just buying bodies in different colours!
This same model was my college moneymaker. Damn, I miss her. Shouldn't have parted ways.
My late wife made it clear in no uncertain terms that I was to never sell another bass.
She did not say I couldn't by any more basses.
At the time I had 5 basses (IIRC). I now have 13.
I have some great players, but I get all excited about pretty basses and buy them when they speak to me.

Attempting to rationalize G.A.S. is at best a total waste of time, and might lead to all kinds of mental issues.
Just a accept whatever direction your G.A.S. is leading you, do not try to make sense of it. Then you will find peace in your mind.

This is the one I've been drooling over.
Put different strings on it so it sounds different. Quicker to switch bass than strings. Can then justify it 
I only have one bass but plan on a future 2nd one if i ever find that other one i must have. Lucky i am neck picky, style picky (2+2 + humbucker) and into shortscales. Dont want to order online and send it right back after 5 minutes of playing and i dont like neck. And not enough variety locally to get much gas. Doesnt stop me from looking online at ones id like to see in person.
I do have slight amp gas. Traded rumble40 for studio40. And want to trade my vox pathfinder for vx50ba.

Best defense for GAS are human horse blinders and/or a welding mask. You can't buy what you don't see.

How interesting, I have been attacked by G.A.S. several times over my past 30 years of playing Bass. And, since I have my Custom Shop Relic Precision 51, I am not even tempted to go check the Classified anymore!!! Strange feeling not to have that urge to go see what is available!!! I am free!
I know the feeling, but having just checked the TB classifieds myself and finding nothing to give me GAS, I felt a lot like Alexander the Great who cried because he had no more lands to conquer . But while I can enjoy my tears today, tomorrow I fear there are places online where levels exceed any of my current basses. How will I know when I've finally advanced into Fodera or Ritter space? Well maybe just a quick peek into the Low End shop and see what they have in the used listing...

For thousands of years, my ancestors were hunters and gatherers so I’m not breaking with tradition and I’d be a buyer of that bass.
Even if you can’t afford it, buy it anyway on credit which means it’s free until you can afford to pay for it.

Who am I to give you advice? I had two for years now I have five. I just recently had six but gave one away to a friend who was wanting to learn.

Yes, you're chasing a color. This is no different from people who have too many shoes. It's dumb.
But, if you have the money to spend, and it brings you joy, then it is a good dumb. It supports a company you like.
IMO, it is better to add instruments with contrasting tone. I would rather add a J-bass, a Starfire or Hofner, etc. to the stable.
This can however be accomplished with strings. One with flats, one with rounds. That still leaves tapewound, and various pressure/half-rounds.
Enjoy your life. Have a rack of P-basses, there is no harm.
If however, buying another P-bass does not actually bring you joy and satisfaction, if it brings an anti-climactic sort of regret, then something is wrong. Not with the bass.
Put the checkbook down. Then get the scissors and cut up your credit cards...
