I’m sure they’re made for him, but only @GeoffGould knows for sureGreetings. I have a set of Gould Signature tapered SS strings on my new GGI5. I like them but I'm having to get used to the SS feel. I'm so used to Daddario Nickels. Not that it matters but does anyone know if Geoff winds these himself or supplied by a maker. It's merely out of curiosity.

yes, I have them made, but in today's supply chain world, it's getting harder and harder to get custom sets!
Yes, there should be, and since in one of my past lives I've been a high school physics teacher, I should know how. But you are going to be constrained by what you can find. Personally I'd keep the low B as big as possible, and gradually lighten up to the G string.Geoff, if I wanted to string a 35" scale Gould 5 string and emulate the low tension of a set of 40-120's on a 34" scale bass, what guages would I use? Is there a way to figure this out mathematically?
Hello! Like many of you, I started with a modulus and now I have the bug for more graphite. I'm in the market for a 6 string, so I'm figuring why not go to the source?
I can't find a lot on the market right now except these ones from Japan that seem to have the same stock photo: Geoff Gould GGi6 Bass guitar | eBay
Are these all scams? Is one the real thing? Thought maybe someone here has experience with one of these dealers.
Alternatively, anyone know how long the wait is on a custom build? Used market is so hot, a full custom build is close if the prices on Geoff's site are up to date!
Thanks for anyone who has time to respond!

Our man in Japan
I'm sure @GeoffGould , who posted right above yours, can answer questions about wait time for a custom build![]()
why do you prefer the penolic board?Haha, well it did annoy me when I was trying to sell a couple of bass and saw similar listings
I'd say for that price maybe better inquire a custom shipped from the USA (I don't play 6 stringers but I much prefer phenolic fingerboard)
why do you prefer the penolic board?
We actually have a distributor in Japan. Just shipped two 6 strings to Main Street guitar. The Bass Club Lacewood is very cool, if it’s still available. The Bass Place in Arizona is getting a nice one within about a month.why do you prefer the penolic board?
Sorry for the craptacular photos, but I had to pull some screen grabs from our stream since I haven't received any high quality stills from the last couple of church services I played. This is my bass in the beautiful Mary Kaye Blue finish that I bought from ChuckM and it's still being put to good use for some joyful noise. I tend to run it about 75% or more towards the neck single coil pickup for that very fat, round tone. Even thought I favor this bass for our mix, I'll probably try and run the SST next week since we have a specific song that should benefit from it's much tighter sound.
