Random question. My '82 L2000 has the non-pointy headstock, which I believe was introduced in 1983. But my SB1 which I THINK is 1991 wish, doesn't;t have the pointy headstock either. Was it added to the SB1 later? Or could the bass be older? My serial number sits somewhere between some 1991 basses on the index so thought it must be...

Yeah, the hookless SB headstocks hung around until the early 90s. Or at least through the end of the 80s. The neck plate serial numbers were notoriously non-sequential, so the most accurate way of dating is to remove the neck and look at the date stamps. But 91 for a hookless SB isn't out of the realm of possibility.
Thanks. I'll do that. It seems 'hookless' L2000s are a lot rarer, as if they were all changed post '83 whilst other models changed later.

G&L is really weird. They know that there are guys out there who do AMAZING demos. Ed and Ivan are two of the best.
Yet they put out these rambling things...so strange. It's almost like they don't really want to sell these things. To put so much work in a product and then present it like this? With this video?
The audio, at least is better. It's true, with the backing drums, you don't really hear the rattling strings, as usually featured when Steve does the demo. That is a step forward. Actually hearing more of the bass than the strings.

And I'm glad Big Chonks is now a model. I can't justify ordering one right now but I have a US Fender J 5 that may be on the block due to this!!! I don't like the CLF headstock....looks like a headstock that hasnt been shaped/finished yet but maybe it can be ordered with the 3+2?
I don't know if it's just me, or Steve, or the audio production here, or the bass itself, but when listening to the video, I can't help the feeling that something important, something intrinsically G&L has been lost with the tone. Seems like it's become much more shallow and doesn't cut through like L series basses used to. Looks pretty though.

Just purchased my second LB-100 and while doing bridge adjustments, I noticed that the saddle lock screw is missing. I didn't see any for sale on the GL site.
Does anyone know what the name and size of that screw are so I can see if they have it at my local hardware store?

My LB-100 has been missing that screw for years. Can't say I miss it on an "old P with flats" kind of bass, at least enough to order one from G&L, but I'd be curious know the size and grab one some day.
