Thank you! I really love how this bass turned out, for sure! Yes, I have both of the new Fuchs amps in for review. There is an S version, which is entirely solid state, and is aiming to capture the tone/feel of a Walter Woods amp (and it does!). There is also a T version, which has two preamp tubes, and is aiming to capture the tone/feel of an Ampeg amp (and it does!). I am really impressed with both of them. They come in 300w and 700w flavors, and both of mine are the 700w versions.

Thanks! It is not downsized. It's a standard CLF L1000. It's probably just the angle of my photo.
He's talking about the original L-series from the '80s, which had a wider "waist".
I believe they thinned it down to the current shape in the mid '90s.

I like this one, is that "Clear Orange"? Don't see many orange G&L's.
Yes, Clear Orange, natural wood binding, swamp ash bookmatching top over alder, and no arm contour.

Hey all...my Kiloton has developed quite a serious electrical buzz that is especially noticeable on the middle position of the 3-way toggle (single coil?). Too loud for even a pretty noisy bar last night. I bought it new from G&L (clearance rack). Warranty thing? Shielding? Wiring? Nature of the beast?
Would love to hear any/all thoughts. I am moderately handy with a soldering iron and screwdriver. TIA!

Sold this transparent orange ASAT semi a few years ago and tried to get it back last year. G&L's natural wood binding makes everything shine. The buyer couldn't manage fretless and sent it to his brother- in Morocco. I think the fretless was a converted "whisper line" bass (where G&L stupidly cut feeler lines into the board) as the side dots were on the line. The plastic inserts would come loose. Later, I had a second ASAT fretless neck like that- it was a freebee that I got with a fretted ASAT and had my luthier replace the plastic with ebony lines. Put that neck on my Lynx body and HMOG.

Shielding will probably help. Single coil always has noise, but G&L's lack of shielding is not doing you any favors.
Speaking of ASAT's, the white body binding helped cheer up this Belair Green a little. It also had a matching headstock. Hard to believe it cost $800 shipped in 2005, brand new w/molded case? Granted, it was on sale, and the dealer had 3-4 identical ones to unload, but still.
That's the equivalent of $1286 today. Inflation has shot through the roof this century.
Still a decent deal.
Are you suggesting to just shield the control cavity? Or is it more extensive than that?
