Here's my M2000 Tribute now with Audere preamp and black knobs:

I was unable to repair the stock preamp, so I had to replace it. It's turning out a good deal more expensive than I had intended but I'm sure it'll sound great when it's done. This is honestly one of the best necks I've ever played, and the whole thing is nice and light. The controls are volume/blend (stacked), treble, high mids, low mids, and bass.

Oh that's nice!

Can anyone help me out with my next G&L (well and truly addicted!).

I've got a 1980 SB-2 which is like a jazz on steroids and my '14 SB-2 which is the ultimate P but looking for something to give me a different tone. Like the look of the L Series. But what's the main tonal differences between what I have?
May ask them to make me a fabled L1000 =D

finally got my L2k back, from the refret can't put it down

Know what You talkin about. I refreted mine and its like resurrection. Nowadays I have more playing, than ever ( extensive rehearsals, live playing, studio recording, home practicing) and only bass I have now is this old L2000 1981. It really has no resting time and my pick playing style is rather rough. This guy won't go on retirement not yet. Actually he is young and furious again :] and believe me, he kicks those rookies basses ass badly.

Well, after, what..... two weeks now? My ASAT has usurped main player position from my beloved Ray. After all, that was the point of picking it up: To have a gigging bass that I didn't have to worry about destroying, while maintaining some similarity to the Stingray.

However the Pros for the stingray still are:
-Flatter neck/better action, but to be fair it has the flattest, truest neck out of any of my basses (lo riders on ray, hi beams on ASAT)
-Less knob twiddling. Either boost or cut my mid/bass a little or turn up volume.
-Balance: I don't get neck dive with the ASAT, persay, but the body shape has taken a little bit to get used to.
-Familiarity. It's my baby, my main squeeze. The one that's been there for me the last 7 or so years.

I do like the P(seudo)-bass tone I can get out of the ASAT however. I find myself favoring neck or both, whereas the bridge position on the ASAT doesn't cut it the same way the Ray does.

Necks can go either way for me, I typically prefer the Ray and P-bass for the wide, flat necks, but this #8 profile is just as comfy after a little bit of adjustment.
