I'm guessing you meant 2017 kiloton? I think that was the first year they were offered.

Well..... I paid that much for a 30-yr old SB-1 that was beat to spit because the mojo was calling to me. And I spent a whole lot more than that on my impending Custom Shop kilo.

So if you've played it and like it: no brainer.

But I would think it's still a reasonable price for buying sight unseen. That is, if it doesn't grab you, you wouldn't lose your shirt reselling it.

All the usual disclaimers apply and I hope others will chime in as well.

It may be a 2017. It is at GC used site in CA. Sales guy said 2007. I didn't think they came out that long ago, but figured he did. (right) So, I can always return it if I don't like it. I love my SB-2T, so I'm expecting I'll love this one, too.
Have to wait until I get home to order. I don't have the card number with me I want to use.
Only thing is, I really need to reduce bass inventory. I don't need as many basses as I have and were this not looking like a good deal, I'd pass, but I have GAS for one because of the love here.

Sure, that might be the best way. But that doesn't necessarily mean that commiting to getting rid of the one that lost its spot and actually unloading it is going to be easy. ;) :D

Yep, that's where I'm going with this. I have victim picked out. It's a MIM P I almost never play except when I feel guilty about not playing it. I't a nice bass, but it is the least favorite of my 4 Ps. I may let go of 2.
Also, it appears the Kiloton was introduced in October of 2016.

I'm also stalking that GC transwhite. I'm a bit torn,as i love the smaller body,but I'd like to know what the bass weighs. I already have a very nice lb100 that i love,but at 9.5 pounds,would prefer something lighter,like my us Jb2 (8.2 lbs).
I'm also a huge fan of the alnico pickups in both basses,not really sure if i'd even like the sound of the mfd in the Kiloton.

I'm not even 2 months with a new L1000 and I'm already keeping my eyes peeled for a LB100 Tribute. I do love the look of the Irish Ale (red/tort/maple) Kiloton Tribute, but I feel like it might be a little too close to the L1000. GAS is bad.

And don't get me started about the Lakland Decade Skyline gathering dust on my guitar stand. I may have to move that one too, or at least give it a few practices to try it out.

Buying a bass BEFORE unloading an undesirable one is risky. How do I know? Since December, I sold 5 basses, three of which are G & Ls. Luckily, I didn't need to take but one in trade, but lots were offered. The risk is that when you have already bought a new #1, the one to go is gathering dust while you reject trade offers by e-mail. It may take longer to sell, or you have to let it go cheaper than you originally assumed it would fetch.

Did you get it? I was going to pull the trigger yesterday, but I forgot my credit card and tried to do it last night. It was still showing as available, but when I was to check out, it was no longer available. So, where do you live and when do you expect delivery? Will you or anyone else be home then? Just askin' :wideyed:

Yes. I am still a bit unsure because the SB-2 and the Kiloton seem to be identical except for the pickups. I love my SB-2T, so I'm sure I'll like how it plays. It is more about tonal differences between the two. From what I've learned, I'm thinking the Kiloton will have a more modern mid-range sound.

Congratulations! I look forward to your review. I have been playing my lb100 a bit more,and don't seem to mind the weight. (It's a great sounding bass). I do really like the pickup placement on the Kiloton,both for the tone,and that position is right where my right hand wants to be.

I'm expecting the weight to be light. It has the same body as the SB-2 which is a smaller version of the P body. My SB-2 is very light, but it is Empress wood, so I'm not expecting this bass to be as light, but it should be fine. I'll let you know.
