Okay, took my 1984/1989 SB-2 to the luthier to have the neck shaved to Jazz-width, and have a new nut & fret job done on it. Took my custom Precision with this style of a neck in for measurements. Should have it back in a couple of weeks. I hope the result is satisfying, as I have been playing a USA Jaguar bass as my #1 lately (that's why I sold 3 of my G & Ls). The controls will be a bit different, but still, I think the two basses complement each other. And, the G & L has one fret more, so I can play "Pictures of Home" as God Glover meant it.

Cool video. They are always entertaining. Outta curiosity, what setting are you using on the Spectracomp? I have one and haven't really experimented with it enough.

Than you TDR1138! I think I've been using mostly the 9901 Funk -patch and blending it in about a quarter. I like the fast attack. At some point I also used the Bass Compander. Last month we were recording an Ep in the studio and we even used it on guitar. It is very silent compared to eg, an exotic sp comp (or something like that). I appreciate the support! Thanks again!

I think I went through most of the settings actually level 2 was passive with the coil split and the bridge pickup. level 3 active, level 4 mid boost and humbucker and the same for the last two I think
It really is a very versatile beast!

Still, a good price on a great bass! I paid the same for my 32 year old SB-1 from GC a week ago. I'd definitely give this one a go, but have my eye on something from the G&L Custom Shop.

Interesting to read the comments here - mine's strung with Cobalt flats (0.040).

It used to be really noisy/lots of hum but recently it had three layers of conductive paint, extra earth points on the pots and shielding foil on the pick guard and now it's whisper quiet

I wish they'd do a 5-string split MFD to put into the SB chassis. The Kiloton with a different pickup. I'm betting it'd be a good seller given the popularity of P-style 5 strings and the reputation of G&L's 5 strings, and the nature of the MFD pickups.

You can, of course, get an SB-1 pickup from the G&L store for $80. I put one into a Yamaha BB bass and it's terrific. And...I've been toying with putting one in my LB.

And if that's an EMG GZR pickup, you might be able to get most of that $80 back by flipping that pickup.
