They should double down and bring the MFD from the SB.

That might be a pretty easy mod for an SB-1.

I'd kinda hate to hack into my SB-1, but man....twin split MFD's. Overkill?.....nah!

Buy them from the store, can't see any reason why CS would not allow the request, after all they sell the pickups in the store, AMIRITE?

Come to think of it I have a spare G&L neck just collecting dust. Find a Fender P body, rout for another splitter, add hardware...presto...double P-MFD bass. Don't care much for projects anymore, but this might be worth the effort.

After listening to several demos of caps I decided to go with an agressive .1uF cap that had great reviews on Amazon. I carefully took before pictures so that I could reference them as I swapped out the cap.

Note the cap connections are the middle tab on the tone knob and the back of the tone knob.


The new Cap:

Result:

Did not work. When using the tone knob there was no change in sound whatsoever. It sounded as if the tone was wide open. The caps came in a pack of 2. So I tried installing the second one orienting it with the writing facing the other way. I had no idea if that made a difference or not.

I checked LB100 wiring diagrams and Fender Precision bass diagrams and NONE of them looked like hat was in my bass. The biggest omission was only 1 wire (red) going to the output jack.

If anyone can help that would be great. If not, I'll probably just order another EMG Geezer kit.

@tubatodd Any update on this? I've been checking religiously since MF pulled it from their site.

I contacted them today and was told "it's on backorder and will not be reordered." So I asked about that. Is this only a single shipment? What's the deal? They had no idea and said they would escalate and get back to me by the end of today. We shall see. I asked for a discount on another $100 item for my inconvenience. The most they would do was 10%. I told them that was disappointing as well. Found a 20% off coupon myself.

Another L-2500 but a CLF in silver with ebony board, glossed neck and vintage frets.
