I got word from Arbutus music today that I was able to change my L-2500 Custom shop order (with Modern C5 4+1 neck and headstock) to a CLF Research L-2500 with the same specs. I ordered back in mid-July, so hopefully it's coming up in the queue soon. Man that makes me happy.

Curious what was your body wood?

If it was ash it makes sense any kind of delay, they just got the blanks.

Mine is alder. I'm going with classic gloss black, maple neck, black block inlays and binding and topping it off with wood body binding.

I was looking at the CLF research models on the G&L web site but didn't see L-2500 there, only L-2000s and L-1000's (i.e. 4-strings but no 5-strings)? Is the web site maybe just incomplete?

I really should not be considering another bass right now, but it can't hurt to browse, can it?

...what strings do you use on your LB100?

In the last three years I tried a few on the LB-100; some taken from other basses, some 10+ years old from a box in the closet.

Like(d):
Dunlop Flats (would probably stick with these if the light gauge was still available)
D'Add. XL Nickel
EB Cobalt Flats
Boomers

Kinda liked:
Round Core Boomers
Dunlop Super Bright Nickel
Sadowsky flats

Disliked:
Pressurewounds
Fender flats
Very old DR flats
TI flats
GHS Balanced Nickel

Right now it's wearing an old set of balanced tension (.107-.045) XL nickels. I'll probably stick with those if the incoming LaBella LTF set doesn't work out.

Here's the stock XL nickel set (.100-.045) a few months after I got the bass:

Hi guys, just wanted to share my new to me lb-100 with you guys. Its redburst and has a tort guard from axtreme. 1.5" nut and quarter sawn neck, ash body, weighs in at 8.9 lbs. its my primary player. I did change the pickups to mfd split p, and now to david allen p, I switch back and forth depending on tone goals of the month.

Information on CLF Research L-2500

The L-2500 addition to the CLF line is very recent, it just hasn't been updated on the site yet. There's a lot going on at G&L, a lot, so some of these things are taking some extra time.

This is exciting stuff. Any ideas on differences in USA L-2500? Same nut width? Do we know what color options are available in CLF version?
