Anyone else notice that Fullerton Standard basses are no longer on the G&L site? (If this was already discussed, I missed it and you can slap me.)

That's generally what happens when I don't pull the trigger on something I want. I guess youse guise can blame me for this.

And if they ever come out with MFD single coils, I will almost certainly try to fit a set into my Warwick Thumb.

I wonder if they made a prototype with the single pole piece directly under the string? I know the SB style MFD pickups have 2 per string also but i wonder what it would sound like with the L-series style pole pieces.

Great question I never thought of that. Single pole might be the answer.

It might sound good. I have to wonder if there's enough room in a Jazz style pickup to get them wound the way they want to though. Seems like that might be the limiting factor.

I think the fatter L-series polepieces would take up a lot of room in a standard Jazz pickup, they are pretty narrow. I bet it would sound great though!

The first prototype set looked pretty much the same but with a long continuous hole in the pickup cover.

Is it a JJ config too ? I just wonder if replacing the MEC pickups by MFDs is worth the effort. If they start selling these jazz format MFDs I'll probably order a set and try the mod...

I have in my stash, a prototype of the split single coil pickup, the covers are comprised of a SB1 cover cut in two and Super Glued together. Dated in 83 and signed by Leo . I need to get around to building a worthy home for them.

I noticed that too about the Fullerton Standards. I was trying get a friend to look at one vs a MIM Fender, then I couldn't find them on the site. I saw a few leftovers for sale on Reverb.

Yes, but we are eagerly awaiting the single coil in the Jazz style housing.

Hmm, I'd kill to get 3 of those for a 5 string , they'd find a home in my Dolphin. (Single for neck twin j bridge)

Speaking of posting pics, this one comes my way soon. I am super pumped to get this in my hands. After playing Steve Araujo's L2500 at NAMM, I had to have one! That SCM mode blew me away.

Yeah I like Cherryburst too. G&L does a nice job on theirs. Your post reminds me of a few that I've been fortunate to have had. And an excuse to post pics!
