Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

I'm really interested in a Shuttle 9.0, but I need to know if it is safe to run it without a speaker load. I would like to use it for recording and silent practice as well as in performance situations.

I ve never owned an amp with a super sounding headphone jack but the 9.0's is pretty good and the DI is fantastic, it sounds exactly how I want to sound and is way clean.

I run the DI I to my interface and use the headphone Jack on the interface for great sound. When self rehearsing or learning covers I use the 9.0's headphone jack and my iPod to the AUX IN. I love that the AUX works with both the headphones and speaker output....A very well designed amp.

Yes you can. Using it as a headphone practice amp was a main design thought. You can use regular, stereo headphones.

You'll be able to use the levels and EQ as well, to get a decent practice tone.

quoted from GenzBenz:

HEADPHONE OUT – A 1/4” TRS jack is provided for connection to headphones for silent practice use. A speaker load is not required. Do not connect this output to anything but headphones.

So I played Famous Dave's in Minneapolis this Friday. They have an Eden house rig.... big woop. I first thought Oh, Ill just use the eden rig tonight, then I setup my shuttle hydrive rig and compared them side by side. NO contest. The shuttle hydrive combo killed the eden rig. More lows, wich I thought the eden 410 would have more lows than the sealed designed hartke..I wa wrong. And the amp, well....Cleaner, Quiter, LOUDER...punchier. GB is the way to go.

I've been GASing for the 9 for a month and a half now... I might end up pulling the trigger today. I'm debating between a 1x12 or a 2x10 but I'm leaning heavily for the 2x10 first. Has anyone tried playing the Shuttle 9 with a TC Elec. RS210? I'm looking for a small sized 2x10 and it seems like the TC is the only one in my price range. Any input would be greatly appreciated for this money stricken college student :]

Older Ibanez ATK305 that I picked up from a fellow TBer. Something every bass player should have in their assualt collection :bassist:

I have a question for you. I have two ATK 305s and love them, besides the point. I was wondering what, if any setting you use particularly with the shuttle? I find that at flat it naturally brings out the attack, grinding, mid rangey goodness that the ATK puts out. Love it

The Gain knob can warm it up yeh. Also it can get you a little bit of grind depending on settings and the bass used.

I played last night with the gain at 4 the volume at 6 and the master at 6 going thru my hydrive. Some knob twiddling to taste on my Lakland and my gawd I was SO LOUD! And when peeps sat in on the last set, I got a chance to hear it finally. BIG sound. BIG!!
