Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 discussion thread

I think your pedalboard has "manly" covered. :)

LOL...ah, not really by TBL standards. :D

I had asked earlier about running out of the effects send, into my pedalboard, then back into the Aux In so that I could blend my clean and effected sounds. AgedHorse warned that there might be some phase issues, but it actually works great with my AdrenaLinn pedal, FYI. YMMV with other effects.

So my guy at the store texts me that a Shuttle 9.0 and NeoX112T are in. He ordered them knowing damn well that I would like a little more than my 3.0 combo and extension cab but not quite the Max 12 and Uber 212 he has in stock.

Damn it! Right when I'm telling myself my stuff is good enough.

Trust me, you'll be all giddy like a little school girl and tinkle in your panties when you hear it.
Not like that happened to me...no, never......just sayin it could have to someone.....I read it on the internet that it could......be careful, that's all I'm sayin'....:smug:

Dude I may put that in my Sig. Thats funny!:D

It did sound good. But so does my 3.0 combo and extension cab. I think I am just more of an FET kind of guy. I like that clean, punchy tone. IT wound cost me $500 to "upgrade" but I really think I'm going to hold firm. My 3.0-10T combo is perfect for my jazz "background" music gigs. Add the extension cab for the horn band gigs. One trip load ins either way. If it ain't broke...

Yeah, sometimes that's the tougher decision isn't it? You could just add an extension to what you already have and get more volume, yet still have the head you like.

I do have the 1x10 extension cab. I played it a lot yesterday and it really sounds good. It's surprising what the addition of even that little 1x10 cab will do. Twice the surface area, twice the watts, lots more bottom.

And really, I don't need more than 300 watts into two 10's. I have PA support at almost every gig I do. The 9.0 is 500 watts at 8 ohms so it's almost double the rating of the 112 cab.

I have great gear with the Sadowsky (and Yamaha) and the Genz "mini stack" so I'm going to try and work with this stuff and get the most out of it that I can.

Now that was tooooooooooo funny!!! Most hilarious thing I've read on TB in a while lol

The GAS is just too much to fight, I'm already trying to figure out a way to finance/justify the purchase lol

I thought I was more of a FET guy too. However, with my new-to-me MAX 6, I've been comparing the FET to Tube channel and I actually like the tube channel more. It has a bit more sparkle and vibrance while the FET is a bit lifeless in comparison.

I guess I think of it as focused and tight as opposed to lifeless.

I will. I just can't quite justify the expense to return of a 9.0 and 112 cab. If I was going to use the 9.0 with a pair of larger 8 ohm cabs or a big 4 ohm, then maybe. But my gigs just don't call for all that stage volume and power.

Really, the 3.0-10T/110 extension mini stack sounds really good. I think I like the 2x10 better than a 1x12. I also like the modular part of it. Combo for "background" jazz gigs, combo + extension for bigger gigs without PA and combo with - or without - extension for PA supported gigs.

Even though it's "just" a 3.0, I still have great tone and the really nice built in DI. This gear is also paid for. Things are pretty tight right now so this is a big point. I still feel a little guilty for keeping the Sadowsky - but that feeling is going away as it kicks ass.
