man...well, I hate to say it but, you got me. You've covered all the points.

I will admit that the Epi is a "polite" cabinet. ..i.e. warm, kind of "cushy" sounding with a sweet top end. It's one reason I like it. I'll run it in my stereo rig with another 4x10 that has some more grind and snarl.

I LOVE THIS COMBO. It will do a lot more than it looks like. And with the extension 12 it is a real killer for everything but your back.

Yesterday my surf band played an afternoon gig on the stage of a new music store...they took over a building that had housed a large electronics store and added a coffee shop with stage in front. My band is not very loud, and doesn't need to be with the style of music. There are two guitarists in my band, neither of which use more than 60W amps. For many venues, my Sunn Coliseum amp putting out 140W into a single 8-ohm 15" cab is enough for the bass. (I have a G-K 4x10 that I can connect to the amp and it will put out 200+ watts, but it's a 93-pound cab and I really don't like to move it around.)

The store set up a brand new Genz Benz Shuttle STL 6.0 head on a 12T speaker for me, and I didn't even take my 15" cab and Sunn amp out of the car. I am new to micro amps and found this to be an amazing combo. It's hard to wrap my head around a combo weighing just 32 pounds - I can literally lift the entire combo with one finger!

I really wondered what it would sound like - and when I fired it up, I felt that it had the guts and depth of any 15" setup I've ever played. With its tube preamp, it has a nice warm tube sound. I can't imagine playing any gig that wouldn't be more than handled by two of those 12" cabs stacked. I just can't believe the power and sound out of that single 12" speaker in that small cab enclosure.

The gig was standing room only - customers stopped while entering and exiting the store (the coffee shop is the entry point, but it's walled off from the store) and many of them stuck around for a long time. Of course, you don't often hear surf music played the way it was done back in the 60's - and that's the vibe we strive for. Everyone said the bass was well balanced and solid.

Both my back and my ears tell me that I may have found something important. I am going to go back in and play with this combo...and if it still sounds as good, I am seriously considering getting it (with a second T12 for versatility) and selling off my other cabs (Peavey 15, G-K 4x10 and homemade 12") and all but one backup amp (I have three of varying power levels). Retail is around $1400 on this combo, but they'll sell the amp/cab for $708. I am seriously considering putting my days of moving 50 to 100 pound speakers behind me.

I'm open to comments - I simply don't need the power of the Shuttle 9 - that would be overkill for my needs.

I appreciate the thought, but actually, I do. I don't and won't need more than 600W. It's not the kind of music I play or the band I play with. And at age 59, I'm not about to take up music that would require more. So I'm confident that I don't need the 9.

From right to left I think I see a 6 or a 9 with a T12, then a 6 or 9 with a 2x10, then a pair of 15's...connected to what, I'm not sure. Care to provide more info?

Well, after playing a Max 12, a 9.0 and my trusty little 3.0-10T combo - with 110 extension cab - I think I'm sticking with my combo/extension mini stack after all. The 9.0 is nice but if I wanted to upgrade I'd go all the way with the Max 12. As it is, I think I'm doing fine with my Mini stack so until it isn't enough, it will be enough. It sounds great, and I think I prefer the FET channel anyway.

Enjoy the 9.0 though. If you want/need power it is a great little amp.

oops sorry...the small combo on the right is the 3.0/10, then 6.0210 on the left of it. To the left of the 210 is the a2T with extension 12...it was powered by a 6.0 which ended up on top of an Uber 410 on the left side of the stage which isn't visable. I will try to find the pic with 6.0 still in the combo

F***ing unbelievable. I have/use the single 12T combo and it does a lot. Add the second 12T is it is really really cool. Super portable, the bass get soooo smooth and deep with the second 12. It also gets very very loud and stays clear. The extension 12T is the only thing I have on my wishlist.
It just amazed me at the clinic and I must say (and I told Jeff G) this amp for a guy that doesn't need 810's and all that stuff will be totaly stoked by this combination.
I love the 6.0/12T combo and with the pair of 12's it is the deal for an expandable compact fit's in the truck of the Carola guy who doesn't want to give anything up. Just the combo when you have rehearsal or small to medium gig and the extension when you need to push a lot of air.

And....last night I called the store and told them to hold the Shuttle 6.0 head and a pair of T12 speakers for me. I'll get in there today and pay for them. Couldn't pass up a deal to get all three pieces for about $1050.

Then I'll be selling off most of my old, heavy gear. Haven't decided whether I'll sell my 1967 blackface Bassman head that I've had since new....I'm sentimentally attached to it, but the darn thing is as heavy as a boat anchor and would bring good money.

My 59-year-old back feels better already!

I just played one of these down at Bass Emporium on Friday, and while I did not get to spend a ton of time with it, it definitely sounded like a louder, bigger (in the low-end) version of the Shuttle 6.0 (which I like a lot). I would say that it was very similar to the ShuttleMAX 12.0, tone-wise.

One of these will be assimilated into the Borg, for sure! :D

Hmm. I didn't think that when I played them side by side. I liked the tone of the Max much better. I think for me it's because I prefer the FET channel to the tube (I know, I'm the only guy who dies but what can I say) channel. I do, however, like to blend in some tube which is why I think I prefer the Max. While you can "kind of" do that with the 9.0, it just isn't the same.

Ah, that could be it. I generally either play the Tube channel or both, on the ShuttleMAX.
