Genz Benz Streamliner; Part 4

I'd inquire with YOMS about it but don't worry, Genz knows they built the amp, they will take care of you. They've said this same general phrase to me several times. Best CS in the business, you've nothing to worry about in that regard.

Curious... Anyone of the other YOMS orderees please answer this. Did you receive an invoice/receipt with your SL? I did not and according to the warranty you need it in case of an issue.

Yeah I would figure that too, it says on the card to write down where you bought it from and YOMS is a registered dealer or whatever so no worries. NOW played with it wooo! Initial thoughts from a metal guy.

If you are looking for grind, punch and oomph... Look no further. You can dial in super grindy overdrive on this thing suuuuper easy. Its almost too much at times which is way cool, because if I know I have a song up coming in the set I want a little more growl on its as simple as turning the gain and pre-amp volume a tick this way or that.

That just a quick first impression with it for 20 mins with headphones with my daughter is asleep.

Very impressed though, will post back tomorrow on how it runs my cabs and how it can do in a mix in a live setting.

Woooo!

A few things;
* as mentioned, you don't need the receipt.
* if you'd like, you can even fill out the warranty on line:
Link Removed
* Lastly- Overdrive tone. Don't forget that if the overdrive sounds "too much", I'd suggest turning off your tweeter if you haven't already. Also, roll off some treble on the amp. I noticed a few people aren't bothering to re-eq when they demo the overdrive. ....then, they say it is a little buzzy.

Well to clarify I guess by too much I just ment too much for my liking in the headphones, but not buzzy or bad sounding by any means whatsoever I wasn't even at noon on the dials and it was awesome lol. I guess I was just suggesting you could get a ton more out of it if need be.

Is anyone who has the Streamliner using it in a metal band? If so, how do you find it for that style?

I am. I just got it yesterday and payed with it for about an hour. I am running it through an Uber212. Right out of the box and with everything at noon...It didnt have the sound I needed, but within 30 mins I found it.

I play sludge, doom, stoner... So thats the sound Im looking for in a smaller more portable rig. First practice with it will be on Sunday.

Here's how I found "the sound"...

2008 American P bass>Tech 21 VT Bass pedal (use the "Flip-Top" sample setting from the instruction manual)>SL900 (Gain at noon, bass at 2oclock, Treble at 10 oclock, Mids at 3 oclock with the Mid Freq @ 220> Uber 212 Tweeter turned down to 9 oclock.

If you really want to to do some damage, depress the Gain switch. I didnt need to...I was rockin without it.

I want to try it through an Uber 410...might give just a bit more of that chest thump that I like than the 212...and the caster situation on the 212 blows IMO...but thats for another thread.

Like the sound of this!

Thanks to me (and Tunaman's heads up ;)), Red Dirt Bros. is currently sold out of the 900's. Can't wait to put this up against my RH450 with my RS210 cabs! :hyper:

BAM thats how we roll, looking forward to your review. I'll be reviewing vs the Eden Navigator.
I was running through my Navigator today. What an amp. I love that bad boy. 50 knobs vs the SL900 is going to be a change but thats great.
BASS, LOW, MID, 3 Semi-Parametrics, HIGH & TREBLE? Its a lot & its nice to have but its daunting on the fly. I've loved this amp for many years so I'd be very impressed if the SL could pass it as my go to rig.

Kinda like the RH450 and the SL900. The RH450 has got an incredible amount of bells and whistles. The only downside is the lack of extended highs and the built-in sealed cab tone. I find it sits best with rock, but I'm not a rock guy, I just play one on stage (mainly sub fill-ins with rock bands). ;) Most of my stuff is funk and dance covers at casinos/private parties or neosoul and jazz at clubs/restaurants (with the occasional speed metal gig thrown in :smug:). The RH450 is not the best solution in some of these other genres, IMO/IME. The para-EQ helps, but I'm finding it's just not enough for my tonal goals. I'm sure gonna miss all of those features, though. We'll see how the A/B goes.
