Genz Benz Streamliner-Pt 2

Got my 900 today and so far it lives up to ALL the hype and early reports. I reserved mine from my local dealer and got one of his first three.

First, a disclaimer - I'm a long time gigging guitar player who recently took up bass. Though I have not played bass that long I've been hearing bass tone (good, bad, and ugly) live at least a few times a week for over 25 years. That said...

This amp ROCKS - exactly the type of tone I had in my head. It can be clean yet warm, or get that overdriven SVT sound with just the push of a button and a twist of a knob. So far I've only got to use it through a friend's GK Backline 2X10 because my cab (Lophat 2X12 3 way) is not here yet. I haven't gotten to explore the upper limits of the master knob yet, but have no doubts that this thing could cover any gig, PA support or no. Even my lovely wife commented on how great it sounds (and looks) - usually she is pretty indifferent about my gear.

I'll also mention that your old Dell laptop bag you have lying around can now be put to good use - the Streamliner fits perfectly in mine - so good in fact that I might cancel my order for the GB bag.

Not sure what else I can add. Those of you who have these things on order will most certainly not be disappointed. Those who are on the fence, come on down!

Two quick questions:

1. How's the OD?

2. Would this amp work in a jazz setting?

1. I have a friend I've gigged with several times who has a 1974 P bass and plays through vintage Ampeg tube head and 8X10 and plays LOUD. We're talkin' power tube overdrive here. I was easily able to dial in that tone. I plan on exploring the OD further tomorrow, but there was more OD on tap for sure.

2. Absolutely. Jazz standards, etc. you bet. Super warm clean tones for sure. Just keep the gain down and/or the gain button off and there's still plenty of volume available.
Funky jazz fusion with tons of slapping, etc.? There are probably better amps for that type of gig.
