Just tried the SL900 at Bassnorthwest. KILLER !!! Everything I want and more.

I have one on order for a lot less than what they are selling them for so I am still waiting.

They have both a 900 and a 600 on the floor if anyone needs one now.

However, I did leave the store $900.00 poorer but taking home an new Uber 210 to go with the SL when it gets here.

What type of music will you be using your Streamliner for? Were you most impressed by the clean, overdriven or other qualities?

All types. I grew up old school p-bass tube amps etc. Lean toward the fatter more organic sounds.

The clean sound of the SL is just so solid and fat. I have no interest in overdrive at all.

I dunno, all this talk of girth and headroom....I'm starting to think GB may be doing some porn work on the side of some sort....Roger or Andy, care to address this?

You have gain pot, volume pot, and a gain switch along with a master volume and your eq. You can dial in most any flavor of grit between those. I did a quick and dirty test at NAMM and there is plenty of room between clean and facemelt. I'm really looking forward to finding a few "edge of breakup" tones with the amp.
The beauty is that the amp has Gain knobs as well as the Gain Button.. I am sure there are mucho levels of "in between" levels of grit that can be achieved with just a little bit of hands on tweaking..
I like clean too, but more often lately i need that just on the edge of clean and slight tube roll over... And what i heard from Eds demo , it can be there...What was really nice was his AB to the MAX 9.2 12:00 setting... you can really hear the difference between the two amps...
Looking forward to it..
I'm sure you guys are right.

Ken, if you get a chance when you record your clip(s), I'm hoping you can explore this tonal area.:)

I'm trying really hard not to want one of these. A couple thoughts:

I've been using PS112 cabs for a while now, which to my ear are already a little "wooly" sounding. I wonder if these cabs with the streamliner might be a little too much of a good thing? I wonder if I would then end up wanting different cabs?

Also, if you're looking for that grindy, compressed tube tone in a small package, would the 600 not be better than the 900? Would you get more of the power tube effect with the smaller head since you'd be pushing it harder to get he same volume? (and is that a factor in why the Walkabout is only a 300 watt head? To encourage you to push the power section a little harder?)
