Ordered some new tubes to try to trouble shoot my no-sound issue. I've never changed tubes before so just wanted to see if anyone has advice (other than having it unplugged and powered down). Do you just putt the old ones out, or do they twist? Also, is it ok to touch the tubes, or would oils from your fingers do damage?
I'm pretty clueless about this stuff.
Red Planet said:IIRC The screws in the top of the amp are small Allen screws. I do not remember the size. take all those out, remover the top cover, pull out a tube, and push another one in. Make sure to line up the pins correctly.

Is that thing about oil from your fingers a myth?
I guess I should try to wire the speakon from 1+ to 1- and 1- to 1+ and try first ??
When there's no sound, the only thing I can do is to play with the knobs and whatever button available, including the mute, lol
It took longer than I expected, but the first time I had to buy speakon connectors for use on a bi-amped BagEnd system and was able to do it with a single cable which couldn't short out and didn't require any special attention to make sure it was hooked up right, I knew speakon was the only way to go.Yup, pack the gig bag right the first time
You can always install SpeakOns on your 1/4" speaker cables.
1/4" is dead for the professional world. Thank goodness![]()
You should NOT do that... !
+Positive to Positive ... -Negative to Negative.
Yo can buy a pre made Spealon cable fairly cheap.. I recommend that if you are not familiar with keeping Polarities correct.
Good! When it comes to amps & cabs I strongly prefer it...
On a separate note, I remember reading about someone having an issue with their power cable a few pages back. Mine seems to have an issue as well. The power cable that shipped with the amp does not fully seat into the power jack at the rear of the amp. It's got a good 1/16"-1/8" to go before it's in all the way, and thus the cable wiggles. Enough that it lost power while sitting on my desk without being touched.
I just replaced it with another IEC cable that I had here and it seats in all the way. Kinda weird, but if it works, whatever.
Love my Streamliner (and my Shuttles)![]()
It takes a good push to seat it, that way it doesn't vibrate out. Similar to those on QSC amps, tight is good.
How good of a push are we talking here? I gave it what I thought was a solid few tries and didn't get it in any further. It seemed to bottom out on something inside the socket.
I'll check it out again tonight.

Another Streamliner gig today. Loved it. Its a little hard to get a good tone assessment as I was sitting next to my cab most of the time but with my GK Neos it wasn't boomy at all... in fact I felt a little light in the lows as I like to EQ that way. EQ: lows at 9, mids at 2.5K boosted to 2pm, treble 1pm.
Meh. If somebody's already invested a couple of grand in their favorite cabs, switching heads is cheaper and easier than building a whole new rig.Tunaman said:Another Streamliner gig today. Loved it.
...I REALLY believe that those bailing on this amp just need the right cab combo. The GK NEOs are really good pairings
