Hey guys. Well, I've been asked this question a few times over the last couple of days, lol! I was thinking earlier that I should post some thoughts here. So, these are just some preliminary thoughts and feelings I shared with another TBer-

The best way that I can describe it, is that the Big Twin II seems to be a bit bigger sounding cab, meaning I think it’s slightly deeper and a bit more sizzly. That makes sense to me since it’s a bigger cab, it’s very ported, and I usually keep the horn rolled on for added bite. The 410-3 is more even sounding and better at dispersing the sound. I have been able to make very slight EQ changes to go deeper with the Genzler, so that’s not an issue, it takes EQ well. I think they have about the same output. The Barefaced cab is ridiculously loud for a 212, and the Genzler is ridiculously clean for a 410.

I love the wheels on the Barefaced, I don’t like the handles, but they work. I like the handles on the Genzler, but I hate where they are(need to be a bit higher for me) and I hate that it doesn’t come with wheels. Lol!

I’m gonna save the final judgement for a few gigs, since I’ve only used the 410-3 at one gig, which it sounded AH-MAZING, and I just got the MG-800, so I haven’t gigged that yet. At this moment, I prefer the BA410-3, but the BTII should be the definition of a “Supercab”-it’s an amazing piece of gear!

To add a couple of thoughts as I'm sitting here, waiting for a genius to fix my Macbook Pro, I feel that where the Mids sit is what makes the 410-3 such a beast! Routing them to the array rather than mixing them in with the LF drivers makes them more usable. Using this cab the other night, I was able to hear things I've been doing, but sometimes it just would get buried. I also really feel like its 4 Baer-type casters away from being the best 410 cab, EVA'. Yeah, I think it's that good.

I'm finding that I'm hitting the peak indicator on the MG800 somewhat frequently, depending on what kinds of effects and whatever I'm using in front of the amp. I do use a lot of distortion, fuzz, and synth pedals, and I'm finding that running at anywhere close to 50% input volume on either channel will tend to hit the peak indicator a lot, even without much running in terms of effects, so I have been turning the channel volumes quite a bit lower and using the master volume to bump up my volume instead.

Is this the right way to go about this? I guess I'm wondering if I'm losing something in the translation here and maybe I should be taking steps to reduce the volume in front of the amp by turning my basses and pedals down rather than turning down the channel volume.

Any insight would be helpful!

First you should have gain unity from all your pedals.

Ie same volume on as off ( perhaps a bit of gain if it's only used for a solo and you need a little more volume).

Once that is right ( and you may already be doing that) then you are correct in reducing the gain stage of the amp to where you barely see the clip light.

At that point volume comes from the master side of the house.

And for those wondering about the tilt- the amp doesn’t budge with the stock rubber feet (older top cab with the side handle, so no cable thread through, but not needed)

Only got to play through it all for a little bit by myself at sane/I like my neighbors volume, but WOW! These cabs were not bottom shy to start with, but they really seem to throw the fundamental now. Probably because it’s raised up, but I can feel the punch in my chest that I have always loved about 8x10s and stacks. And the amp is up in face, so I can read it all easier. Totally worth it to me.

The only bad thing is that I really have no need for the 410 now. But GAS isn’t about need

I’ll mess with it later to see the differences in tone between cab shapes and where the slant goes in the stack, but I’m digging it. It’s been a Genzler week already- ordered this Sunday, listened to the Bass Gear magazine @tombowlus interview with Jeff Monday, got this AND my latest issue of BP with the Jeff profile in it today.

@Fred312b --- Thank you for rockin' such a great GENZLER rig. Also I like the old Maxell ad. When you're mess' around with variations, try the SLANT on the bottom and stack the 2 straights on top. I would imagine that will offer you a completely different tonal range.

So this week was the first time I used the 350 combo for a gig... as a side player for a singer/songwriter in a trio setting - guitar, harmonica, and bass. I was playing my fretless Bee. The setting was a showcase in a largish club with excellent FOH and PA support. During sound check I asked the sound guy where he wanted my stage volume and he remarked that the rig sounded so good he didn’t care and that since it was going to be a lower volume affair, he might just take me out of the FOH and allow my rig to cover the house since it sounded so good. The singer/songwriter complained that the bass was too loud on stage so I turned down significantly and was added back into the FOH. One of the other acts was a trio of guitar, bass, and drums, and all three sought me out to compliment my tone. That bass player was playing a Warwick through a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 & 112 cab. He also commented that he needed to further check out the Genzler gear

That is one of the challenges of not being in the FOH. To carry the room the rig can dominate the stage level. I've been bumping up against this problem recently. Started sending a signal to the board so I could lower my stage volume.

It’s even more impressive when you consider that your only using 175 Watts when using just 1 of the cabs. I have 2 of the 10-2 cabs for my church and travel rig and it’s very impressive.

Honestly, it's a bit unreal, how good this rig actually is. Last night was my first gig with the MG-800, second gig with the BA410-3, and I'm actually a bit speechless. Same experience as others have said, I didn't touch the EQ, other than very slightly backing off some low-mids. The Drive channel did exactly what I needed it to do. I might be confident enough to take the VT Bass off the board. I just need to find a way to get the Boss MS-3 to switch channels on the amp. My sound guy came up to me and said "if I buy a bass rig, I'm buying THAT rig! It sounds incredible!" I'll get a couple more gigs on this rig and I'll be more prepared to talk about it. Right now all I can say is

I dig the dUg! LOL! I've been struggling for a while trying to get something that'll really do the "modern metal" sound. I'm a fan of Darkglass, I just haven't been able to get any of the Darkglass pedals to do what I want. I got the dUg, plugged it in, BAM! What really surprised me was how useful that sound actually is. I could leave it on for half of our show and it would sound great. I need to retweak some settings with my Genzler rig, but the tone from the dUg is solid! I'm totally enamored with the Drive channel on the MG-800. It's really great for that mild OD.

They do sound amazing but, honestly, I'd imagine any bass would sound good through this rig! My Kiesel Vader sounds massive through this rig. I can't wait for my fretless F Bass and my Dingwall ABZ's! On a side note, the Boss MS-3 is also a pretty solid piece of kit! I'm using the onboard compressor, noise gate, and tuner, and they all seem to be pretty usable. You'd wanna tweak them to taste, but they really shrank my board to a more reasonable size.
