Genzler Amplification Club

Many here - including myself - keep the tone mostly flat - but the Contour is the secret sauce. Just enough flavoring to go in any direction. I have a small board with tuner --> Becos mini comp ---> Broughton HPF/LPF --- DOD Meatbox. Honestly, the best setting is flat with a 10-2/12-3 cab mix. Watch the Nathan Navarro/Genzler on YT for a mind blowing variety of tone. I have the 350 and there's plenty of firepower for anything. Glad you are "in the G house"!

Yeah great point. I love my setup it’s still new but starting to really break in that 15” speaker. I love the megallan 800 head to. The single cab alone is loud enough for anything even unmicd. Well almost within reason, but even outside it can be really filling. I just didn’t know if a lot of the Genz fam used pre amps to color tone at all. I don’t see a need to but just curious. I do love that contour button! It’s a game changer!

After talking with jeff, if I add anything to the main rig I might add another 15” slanted array. Jeff is amazing in returning email, and after talking two 15” cabs slanted was the conclusion we came to. But I prob won’t be adding that for a long time.

I got a Spector Euro the new ones with darkglass pre-amp and that thing is making the guitar and amp thump like crazy!

any more input on how y’all setup and dial
In your Genz amps I would love to hear! Thanks guys! Love this thread!

2x15 FTW!!

Quick question, does anyone use a Sansamp
Like a eq of sorts, or use any type of preamp to give the genzler more tonal options? Let me be clear. I’m in love with this amp! I tried out every bass amp there was that was in the real quality gigging amp, I literally bought the Genzler Megallan 800 head with the 15” slanted Array cab without looking at the price! It was that good! My account took a hit but this head an cab WOW! I don’t know how more people aren’t using these! And then again I love it cuz it’s like we all know the worlds best secret and it blows people away when we get to play them. Haha. So I am totally happy with my tone as is. I just didn’t know if anyone used tone coloring pedals or preamps even eqs at all with the Genz. I have a sansamp and I tend to use it when I’m playing with my Fender Jazz cuz I can boost the bass more an make it sound a little more aggressive while still keeping the jazz tone ya know. With my Spector Euro “frickn monster” I basically let its darkglass preamp and the amp do the Jon lol. I will say I have an xotic compressor that I had when I payed guitar. It sounded solid with my bass stuff and I’ve always loved it so I kept it. It’s one hell of a boost, and it makes the ghost notes thump, along with slapping. Idk... thoughts on my setup? Or any or you fine genz headz have a rig similar to what I’m asking about?
I too love the Genzler tone and it’s the only amp I’ve ever had that made every cab sound better. Every other amp seemed to play well with some, but not all. I would love to try some of the new cabs, but the old Genz neox 212t is so good, I don’t see the need to change it up. I do use an Edison tube preamp from Night Owl Industries just to get a more authentic clean tube compressed vibe.

Either cab is a win to add to your BA15-3. I personally like the BA210-3 SLT. But, 2 BA15-3s would certainly be a monster rig!!!

I think that is the combo I would choose. I think what the 10’s would bring some punch to the party, different than the 15, which buy the way, is the best I have ever heard for it’s overall qualities as the UN 15, so appropriate IMHO. THANKS JEFF!

Dude how is the 2 15s?! You don’t have the megellan head do ya? Either way would love to hear how the 15”s are I know thump will be there. I mean any decent amp should thump with 15”s but genzler has so much more going on with the speakers and cabs and dynamics you hear. I hope I can get back to finding a band an gigging to have a reason to get the second 15. Yeah it would kill the old bank account but I bet it sounds amazing not even like super loud I bet it sounds amazing!

whoa so how does that monster sound? I would love to know what you guys get out of the bigger speakers other then loudness and thumps. Like what would adding either one of these cabs to my slanted 15” give me other then obviously much more volume and bass lol

I talked to jeff and my initial thought was a 10” with the 15” would be perfect but jeff made some great points why to get another 15” I love how jeff is so active with the customer bass! Pun intended!

Very interesting to see the mesa heads with the Genz cabs. Mesa was the closest to getting in the way of me getting the genzler. But the genzler idk there’s something about the head an cab about them. I know I just love the amps cuz I never heard of genzler beofre and I’m new to bass amps. Now I’ve tried them all or most anyway and man genzler to my ears is just nasty good!

Quick question to y’all: I have a euro Spector the new ones with darkglass preamp. the bass out of this thing can boost like a mother! It sounds amazing but I also have a fender jazz. I love them both I wanted to part with one but just couldn’t. So with that being said how would you all eq each bass, with them being so drastically different. Thanks guys

Just got my gear in today and I couldn't be happier. My SB sounds massive through this Genzler 410-3 Array and I couldn't be more pleased. I bought an SLM 610 Ampeg awhile back through a package deal and, for the money, it was all too good to pass up. However, turns out the cab was busted and the guy may give me some of my cashola back. Nice of him if he goes that way.

I always wanted to hear a Genz Benz rig but never got the chance. So sight unseen and with a few posts about this cab through TB, I pulled the trigger. I am impressed!!! 5/5 for me. I could say 4.75 to be fair because everything can always be improved upon.

Absolutely, the BA15-3 SLT does bring more lows to the table. However, with the Array you can get so much definition that it becomes unlike any other 15” speaker cab ie. The Un-15. I tend to have some high/high mids on my overall tone and these cabs deliver this with a authority. So, no surprise if you had 2 of these they would deliver all the bottom you want but with an articulate mid punch as well.

With the BA210-3 SLT you get all of that but with a little more mid presence. Plus, that quick response that 10’s deliver. The BA15-3 compliments this setup with its clear, smooth bottom end and makes for a full range mini stack that is an absolute joy to hear.

It is safe to say, no matter what cab you decide on, as long as it says Genzler on the top left corner, you are going to be satisfied!

Thanks a ton! I am running my super bassman on the vintage channel right now and it's massive sounding. People weren't lying whenever they said this amp had weight behind every note. I was thinking about adding The 2x10 cab but wasn't sure if I should get the slant or straight. Then again, I'm not even sure if I'll need it considering this thing puts my 610, albeit busted, and other eight tens I've played through to shame.

I have been through an embarrassing amount of cabs.....these are my favorite by a sizable margin. I had a Magellan 800 for a bit, but not at the same time as these cabs. The Mesa can cover a wide range of tones, and the Genzler cabs shine with all of them. Hard to go wrong no matter what style you play.

Slant all the way!!
The BA410-3 along with the BA210-3 SLT will sound like one 610 cab. And the slight slant of the entire rig helps with getting that sound to you ears But, also will fill a room like no other rig.

Make sure your head can go down to 2.67 ohms to property power both cabs. This is my go to big rig and it totally rocks!!!

do you use it always on and instead of compressor? Is it last in the chain? How much gain do you dual in? Was looking at those but was thinking on for warm distortion and off for clean but that would mess up my unity gain ...

And tbh the dirt on the Magellan isn’t bad.
