This is a feature (combined with the clean blend) that I had been looking/asking for since 1999. Around 2002 or so, Tom Lees and I dreamed up a prototype circuit (mounted to a small piece of plywood, LOL) which had two cascading gain/overdrive stages, variable HPF/LPF on the overdriven signal, and a clean blend, and it sounded fantastic. We were both too busy to take it any further, but I often wonder... But, it is great to see options like your pedal, Jeff! Thanks Tom, Your comments and insight always mean a lot to builders and the player community.
There is a lot of versatility in this first pedal and although each player has their own subjective tone when it comes to overdrive, we feel the 4 ON THE FLOOR will provide many variations as players shift through the gear choices in combination with their specific instrument and rigs.

Now when the Magellan tube head comes out (think updated Streamliner) that can mount to my MG112T-V cab (so I can maybe dump my REDDI and just use my combo and/or head as my tube DI with the added perk of a preamp so I have the same tone for every gig - small or large - using the combo or DI/IEM's and FOH) I should be set for gear. :cool::D:bassist::drool:

NAD....just got the MG350 and love that it safely goes down to 2.67 ohms so tried it out with my three SVT-210AV cabs and it's AWESOME! It's like a wall of air from a jet engine....and goes about as loud. With the volume at around 8:30, it's already rattling stuff in my room. Tried it at 9 o'clock and it's getting deafening. Previously used a GK MB200 to drive two of the SVT-201AV cabs but the MG350 with three of the cabs is a whole 'nother level. And, old skool tone for days thanks to the contour knob. What a great amp!

I am wondering about something... I often hear that it's not necessary to have an amplifier like the Magellan plugged into a speaker cabinet, and in fact you have to have it unplugged to run out to headphones as a stand-alone. I am wondering though: if you have a Neutrik speaker cable plugged into the amp, but NOT into the cabinet, does that cause any issues? Is the amp expecting to have a cabinet at the other end because you have a speaker cable attached? I use one main set of cabinets (a Genzler BA10 and BA12 set). My amps are on a shelf and difficult to get to the back of them to plug in the cables. My thought is could I just have several speaker cables ready -- labelled for which amp is at the other end, and use whichever belonged to the amp I was using at that moment, when I wanted to go out to a speaker instead of headphones?

there is no switch at the cable jack so if there is no load there is no load and no harm to the amp.

No problem, the cable is an open circuit to the amp which is s legal load.

Just thought I’d share this with you guys. Not a lot has seen this cab comparison video but here it is. Incredibly well made. IMO it was just Bergantino vs Genzler battling it out for first. The Mesa just sounded like it was covered in a blanket...



*I know this isn’t exactly fair given the cabs are as different configurations as can be*

Yeah I could pick out the genzler easily! The mark bass sounded cheap afterwards and yeah the Mesa was quite dark.

definitely bergantino vs genzler in the comparison - which as you mentioned is not apples to apples.

To my ears each cab has its own sonic footprint and none sounded inherently "bad" overall. Which is best depends on your tone goals imo. I'll be sticking with my Genz cabs. They have and continue to work for me.
