The original Trace Elliott had an amazing little combo with the speaker, I think it was 10", recessed into the cab with a solid baffle covering the front an just a 1" slit down the middle yet it pumped HUGE volume, low mids, and decent lows. I think there was a tweeter on the front baffle. I know I've seen such a thing someplace.

Hi StayLow---- I just to be clear, the design you are referencing (thanks for the picture Tom) and others like it have no similarity to the Bass Array design. There were several attempts in the MI world with these designs, TOA had a PA cab similar as well, but never caught on.
Those design concepts date back to the 1940's by Altec, JBL, Western Electric, and Voice of the Theatre designs. This slot style baffle was designed to improve phase coherence by reducing radiating surface area in the horizontal plane which reduced midrange reflecting ---similar to what was used in the horn loaded A-2, A-4, A-7 Altec cabs.
Another advantage was the mechanical and acoustic high pass effect which was achieved by the combination of the dimensions of the aperture (acoustic opening) and the acoustic loading.

Again nothing like the Bass Array which uses a bass reflex woofer design blended with a compact Line Array component for the mids and highs --- which increases the horizontal dispersion while providing more controlled vertical dispersion. As well it increases the projection into the room much more so than traditional woofer/tweeter combinations. With the BA cabs the full bandwidth response appears to project from one "source point" --- the center of the cabinet. The players using these cabs can attest to the dispersion, projection and shear power of what these little cabs can do.

I'm just presenting this information for the sake of clarity.

^ Thanks for clarifying.

I didn't mean to imply the principle or effect was the same, just "similar" in the very basic sense of some kind of baffle in front of the speaker and tweeters mounted on the baffle out front.

I had a chance to go thru a two hour practice tonight and while its not a Streamliner 900 it has some of its flavor. I started off with everything set at 12:00 and IMO it sounded great. I did have the drive on and while it doesn't have the big tube sound of the Streamliner the bottom end this amp puts out will fill any room nicely. I was running it thru a TC Composite 212. I used the clean channel for a few songs but I prefer the drive. I ran a small amount of chorus with it and it was real smooth sounding. I'm looking forward to using it on a gig but that won't be for another 10 days. More to come.

I finally had the chance to gig the amp last night and it did not disappoint. I ran it thru my TC212 and the sound was very solid. Mids and higher scale note were crystal clear. The bottom end was big. Instead of using my overdrive pedal I used the built in drive in the amp. I also added a small amount of chorus using a MRX Bass Chorus Deluxe. I also had a few songs which I used a octave pedal and an envelope filter. I had everything set at 12:00 with the exception of the master which I ran between 9:00 and 10:00. As far as the Streamliner comparison, there is some but this has its own sound. For me it's almost a mix between the Streamliner and the Shuttle.

Just did another gig last night with the amp at the Hard Rock Rocksino and again it was solid. The only tweek I made was I turned the drive gain down to about 10:00 and left everthing else straight up as I did the week before. Real happy with this amp. I still like my Markbass Multiamp but this thing has a real nice thump to it. If your considering it I would give it a thumbs up.
