Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

At 34 pounds, the schlep is reasonable and it gets as loud as I want.

I do find it necessary to get the cab off the floor and pointed upward a bit. It is a short cab together with the dispersion characteristics makes it much easier for me to hear when it is up a bit. The other band players love the dispersion. They hear me much better than they did with the Acme.

As for the amp, I can't help you. I've not tried one. I'm using a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 with my BA12-3.

One would likely be enough for me, but I WANT a pair, partly for the elevation and the multidriver tone and partly because I have three setups in the house so I can use them separately in basement, bedroom, etc. The other temptation is to sell three rigs so I can stack three if I wanted to. The 2.67 ohm option on the Genzler amp is just crying out for a trio of cabs!

Nice man! Great sound, great playing. Like the band. Good to finally hear the bass I've seen in your Avatar for so long.

thanks. It is a fun band. The singer and guitar player were a duo for a while and after I heard them perform, I pulled them aside and told them that a fretless would fit really well in their music and I knew a fretless player ;) The fretless really does fit very nicely in what they do. We played together once and then they pulled in the drummer and it became a band. Kyle is an excellent guitarist and their harmonies and songwriting are really nice. Unfortunately, after the gig that recording was taken, they decided to move to SF... 400 miles away. So, I'll only be playing with them occasionally.

All that said, back to topic, I think the BA12-3 sounds great even in this not so good recording.

This makes me happy. This will be my first day using it. I think this Genzler Stack and my Ibanez SR5005 Prestige will get the job done today.

I've been giving the mg800 a real workout with my different cabs and liking it a lot. I still think that it needs a hp filter to really get the best from it though. The super wide voicing can come off as mushy compared to my vt500 or ampeg rack rig. But, when I use a broughton audio bandpass filter, the tone really comes into focus and I can use the eq to its potential. I think that my personal version of the magellan would be to just use the drive channel, replace the contour control with hp/lp filters and go with a 4 band eq. But, all in all, this is a really good amp.

I'm talking totally flat into an nv610, pair of bag end sd15's, sealed neo 610 and sealed neo 15156. It's just that wide flat low end. When you reign it in, the sound gets more focused. I've noticed this with some other newer class d amps where they are trying to get low and loud.

Interesting as I run the same BE and Bergantino cabs, and am used to the tight sound of sealed cabs, and don't look for super deep lows in an amp, rather solid upper bass and low mids.

I've realized most of what I like to hear is mostly 80hz and up, as long as it's punchy and solid. Even for reggae.

There are a LOT of pages to go through here. I just read the BGM review and am interested in a pair of the 112 array's and the amp as well.

Until now I had been focused on Barefaced and Acme, but it seems that the Genzler's are tuned to play fairly deep too. I guess the midrange drivers allow them to tune the woofer to run deeper since it doesn't have to do as much work on the mids.

The BA12-3 is ported for deep reproduction of the fundamentals that the bass guitar can produce. Even more so the implementation of the line array takes the important mids and upper mids out of the 12 woofer and allows the smaller 3" drivers to do what they can reproduce more efficiently and with the benefits of increased dispersion and projection.

Had my first show with the MG800 last night and it did not disappoint. I used my Bergantino AE410 can and passive 2000 MIA Fender jazz and Lakland DJ5. I set everything except the master at noon, used the clean channel and contour A for all for sets. I had the tweeter in the Berg on the lowest setting. We were doing Country and Class Rock at this show, George Strait to ZZ Top. During sound check, I took the treble down to about 11 and the stage tone was fantastically full and warm. I stepped out on to the dance floor and through the mains and subs, the sound was HUGE! With both basses I was able to change to a wide variety of tones using just the controls on the basses, what a concept, ;).

With the wide variety of amps I've had, I've always had a great tone, but the MG800 seems to capture the best parts of every amp and put it in to a single, well designed package.

I used mine post EQ with IEMs and it's great.

As far as OD, I'm using a Blues Breaker clone that I built for that nice Dusty Hill/Lemmy sound when needed. The MG800 takes pedals wonderfully.
