Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

The MG 800 is crush proof.. Not that i tried..
Just made a trek to the east coast and back.. spent 2 weeks with it in a gig bag... Bounced around in a normal fashion... got home last night turned it on and perfect.. I really didn't expect anything less...
Not only are your products easy to get a sound with. but they are virtually bulletproof.. I'm NOT kissing up!! Im just stating a point...

I posted something about this in another thread, but should put it here too. I recently used my Magellan 800 with a pair of 210 cabs that are basically copies of the old SWR Goliaht Jr front ported with neo speakers from the more recent cabs before SWR went away. I had a pair built because I wanted to do the stained / clear coat thing - they look cool (my old pair with black rat fur were pretty hammered and looked like hell) and make for a very small footprint on small stages - I always stack them vertically. Anyway, I couldn't believe how good the MG800 sounded with these cabs - and I used to use them with a Walter Woods Ultra - I used to think that the WW was it - the one - no more! I actually sold my WW a couple years ago because my fear was that when Walter retires, there's nobody that can work on his amps - so, while it still had good value, I got rid of it no problem. I have the MG212T cab also, but for certain stages, it's nice to know that the MG800 can work so well with my old cabs!

Hello Michael, I'm sure you know it is our policy not to comment until we're ready to launch but like so many companies, you just can't stand still product development-wise. I guess you could say -- you can do big things in small packages.;)

Can you atleast let us know a ballpark of when these big things in small packages might be released lol.

@bwoodman ---- Thank you for sharing your experiences. In general I do think that the mark of a great amplifier is that it works very well with a variety of cabinet options. I think that speaks to the fact that the amplifier is not radically coloring the instruments tone. The Magellan 800 has a natural completely flat option if you want that, but there are various slight tonal modifications that can enhance what you're hearing in your head as you play. That can change from song to song and different instruments. We hope you find the Magellan 800 gives you the palette to enhance your tone regardless of the cabinet options.

Hi Jeff,

I didn't really expect any concrete info, fully aware of what can and can't be said.

Since I am perfectly happy with what I have right now I can wait until an official announcement - still, small packages sounds rather intriguing. Hope development is on track.

I am guessing/hoping it's a combo amp in the image of the Shuttle series. A "mini" Magellan somehow attached to a 1x12 (maybe a line array) cab of some sort. About 300 watts. Maybe 20 pounds or so. Something like that.

I'm using a GB Shuttle 3.0-10T combo right now with a 1x10 Extension cab. It's a great little rig for small non-supported gigs and home practice but I have been itching for something new as I've had this for a while.

I used to have a Shuttle 6.0-12T combo and I wouldn't mind having something like that again. Most of my playing these days is DI/IEM so I don't need/can't justify a full blown Magellan 800 and a bunch of 12-3 cabs. The new Bergantino stuff looks great and probably is, but it's so expensive and lots of buttons and menus and stuff. As I get older I'm looking got be as simple as possible. Even debating a 4 string instead of my 5 string but that's another thread.

Steve, for real...a combo---? that's so 2008.
We need rigs that follow us into the gig like BB-8 and wireless cabs that hover over the crowd to keep them bouncing on the dance floor!

Can anyone comment on how the Magellan 800 compares tonally to the Genz Benz GBE 750? I've been using the 750 at rehearsals lately and I REALLY love the tone. I'd like something in the same ballpark but smaller (and brand new ideally) - I've been eyeing the Magellan for months now but haven't been able to get up to the single store in the area that stocks it to check it out.

If anyone has any comments on the tone (I understand the feature set is quite different) I'd love to hear them. I typically run the 750 pretty flat, and it's going through what I think is an NX2 cab.

I've not owned a 750 (came close but the weight dissuaded me) but am familiar with them, and own a Magellan now. Its a very versatile amp - you can set it flat and forget it, or tweak eq as needed. The two channels are quite different, you can get some good grit from the drive channel and good clean sound from the clean. Can't blend the two like some amps, though. For its size, its a beast - plenty of power with the right speaker configuration (if you're using a 750, I assume you've got enough cab to handle the 800 watts). The 750 probably give you even more tonal options, but the MG should more than meet most if not all of your needs, at 6 lbs.

We're going to have the new combo with us tomorrow night and the night after in Riverside and Hollywood, and will have the Array 210s with us tonight & the whole time at the Hammersmith Music Road Show! We're at the Bunkhouse Saloon tonight from 6pm on, so if you're in the area, come check out the gear and hang
