I was smiling when I was posing for the image (wrong to call it a photo) they told me not to smile. Just like a passport image.
I have to admit I was smiling too....

Did none at Hammond wonder do you think we can save some weight here without sacrificing tone?
Those humongous B3s were made to be planted and never moved. Only Rock n Rollers would try to do such a thing on a regular basis. Kinda like carrying your refrigerator around so you can make a snack.

Eventually a few enterprising young peoples made rack cases for the guts and turned out to be a bit more portable.

Knew a keyboard player back in the day that had a "porta-B". It was the guts of a B3 in a metal frame instead of a wooden cabinet. Not sure how much lighter it was...
When was that? I don't remember exactly when I first saw a porto-B3.

I used to haul a Hammond M3 around. Much smaller, less majestic but still, through a real, mic'd Leslie, filled in pretty well.

I think that if I could buy a single modern organ/piano, it would come from Nord. Unfortunately, mucho dinero.

Had one of these (Yamaha YC45D)for years. Semi portable-2 ppl minimum, sounded great through a Leslie(furniture dolly to move it). Finally became unrepairable, gave it away for parts.

I've never b4 seen a bass player using a headstock strap connection. Looks weird.:wacky:

My ‘57 PBass has a strap button on the back of the headstock. No neck dive even if you tried. It seems that the chance of the strap popping off and the whole bass taking a dive onto the floor is high. I’ve never used it.

Yamaha had some very nice keyboards in the early days. I had a CP30 piano, great for Supertramp songs. It was big and heavy so I gave it up. I wish that I hadn’t. Still have a DX7 and RX drum machine.

An OS software upgrade on my mac this week to Catalina killed my midi librarian that I use for loading voices. I’m hoping that someone comes up with a new app that runs under Catalina.

Free tickets to see The Village People sounds about the same to my being as free tickets to see Foghat. The likelihood is Hard Pass, depending on who's asking and what else is in the "offer".
In May 1978 Foghat came to see my Top 40/disco band when we were playing the Airport Holiday Inn in Roanoke. Think about this, you're Foghat and you just got done playing a concert in some shed, where would you go to chill out and have a beer/whiskey/whatever?

We all sat and had a nice conversation when my band got done playing.

In their heyday, Foghat were great. I imagine I would go to a VP concert for fun-- wife Carey likes them-- but I'll bet their musicians are top notch professionals and the act is well polished.

That brings to mind a story-- Carey and i had arrived at the Portland (PDX) airport and our son and daughter-in-law picked us up. On the way back to Salem, son played YMCA. We all knew the hand moves and were all enthusiastically making them in unison. Behind us, an Oregon State cruiser pulled up and watched us for a few minutes. He then pulled beside us and started doing the YMCA hand signals with us! That was a gosh darn moment, I'll tell ya...

Good afternoon, GOF's and front and center please, to report in that all appendages are accounted for and still alive and breathing... We had a terrific storm last night. It was so windy the drapes were moving with the windows CLOSED! Perfect Halloween weather. Today's payday so we're going out to one of our favorite animal clubs for a grilled ribeye. Carey usually gets halibut or sauteed jumbo prawns. We're getting ready to go to Fairbanks for Alaska Federation of Natives convention. We're excited because our nice hotel is right near the convention center and the mall, which includes Walmart, Fred Meyer, and Outback! woot woot! Big city food! LOL.

So what say ye, GOF's, what do you have planned for this weekend? Exciting trips, stay at home?
