Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Once I began to seriously reflect on life it seems that it's raining butt-hurts. I just got back from my first ever root canal. My mouth feels fine but somehow I feel butt-hurt. Oh, I know what it is. The dentist's bill. Ouch.

And I was the GOF who very recently claimed to never, ever have been butt-hurt. Silly me.

M. M. :)

Well, gof's my friends I had quite a scare this week. Last week, my wife was sick with what was supposed to be a touch of flu. She kept getting worse, and by Sunday she was moaning and couldn't sleep. Monday I took her to the ER. We spent most of the day in there, blood tests, then scans, etc. They had a suspicion of what was wrong, but they wanted to be positive. They admitted her to the hospital. I of course freaked out. I lost my mom, dad, and brother, and last year, her mom passed. All hospital related. This was so scary. She was barely conscious but told me to hold it together and go home and get the house in order and take care of our dog, Shadow. He's a lovely soul, older, and such a great dog and friend.

It turns out she had blockage in her intestines of well, excrement that hardened. Sh had been trying a diet and there wasn't enough rouphage. So her blockage was hardened excrement. They put in an IV and filled her with bags of water and potassium, and electrolytes, and a "GI cocktail." Today she's no longer pale and feeling more like her old self. She was ordering me around and I irritated her a couple times and I was so happy when she told me. LOL.

Here's what I learned. After 29 years together, my wife is the best of me. She's the much better half of me. She knows me like no one else in the world. I can't con her, fool her, heck I can't even lie to her, she knows. She often knows what's best for me before I do. She reflects me and what reflects back is better than myself. In the beginning when we met I was a wandering minstrel and lived out of a trunk and two one ton Econolines with five other music people. I found gainful employment and glad I did, considering how awful the live scene is going. But when I went home last night the house was so empty. Everywhere I looked I could see and feel her.

I'm so glad she's coming home tomorrow noon. I'm so excited I'm doing laundry!!! And she never lets me do it! I'm polishing up everything and making it nice for her. She is the very best part of my life and I'm lucky to have her.

Thanks old farts for listening. Sorry but today I don't have a good reason to be grumpy. It's even sunshine outside! :)
Never discount the value of a good poop. And don't underrate consistency. I've learned that if you're not timely, it's for a reason.
Just curious, what was the diet?

Well as much as I try to not get grumpy, yesterday was a lil trying.. well lets say last night was.. I was not on my mark, the one guitar player didn't do his homework.. and I was about ready to pull my hair out! Outside of that.. I am ok..

On another note, I just had to put a fresh set of tubes in the SVT.. oh wow what change that made.. the tubes that were in it were 3 7025, 2 12au7 tubes that had a sticker on them Made in China, but the only writing on the tube was 12au7 and that was it.. then the power tubes, I am going to presume that they were 6550 type tubes.. there wasn't any writing on them at all! I replace all of that with Sovtek 6550WE (matched), (2) GE 12au7 (matched) and (3) Ei 12ax7 pre war Yugo made Telefunken type tubes) Now let me put it this way.. before changing the tubes I was running the amp with the master dimed and controlling with the gain, the gain was at 930. Now, the master is at 10 o'clock and the gain is at 10 o'clock.. and it is almost too loud with that!

Nice! Even on my one tube built in preamp, I can tell a difference between brands. I have a vintage NOS tube in it now. It sounded best. 2nd best was the JJ. Fellow IT guy in another dept. we share a building with said the building deputy has a bunch of tubes looking for a new home. I'm going on a tube raid soon :D

I'm grumpy. Lawn needs mowed. Had my MRI last night. Techy not supposed to tell you anything or it would put radiologists out of biz, but I know how to ask. She said my neck is pretty messed up :( Expected. Haven't been able to play bass since the White Wedding indecent, over a week ago. I'm still hoping they can at least put off surgery for another 6 months at least with an injection. They helped a lot in the past. Maybe I can borrow Sir Paul's Canadian medical ID, make a rod trip and we can be roomies in recovery? What could go wrong?

I had a feeling you would be quite pleased ;).

I hate talking about why I'm grumpy, guess you could say I get grumpy about it. When people warn you about letting a surgeon work on your spine LISTEN to them. Pins and needles are still gone, strength still back in the legs/feet, but disabling pain is much worse. Will be a long while before I can let them back in there. The shared cost after medicare is not in my means so after turning 65 I can get additional coverage. Okay feel the blood pressure going up so that is all. I can just thank the stars I don't have an expiration date like my guitarist buddy. I think.?.

I guess we all got that date coming. I think its best not to know when. Thanks for the neck warning. I sure hope I can get by with a steroid shot. I dont like the idea of fused vertibre either.

Mowed grass one handed. Took the pull start gizmo off the handle so I could start it left handed. .

One night before going in to work on thirds.. I was about to walk down the stairs to leave and my left knee locked up.. it wouldn't straighten out. Ended up going to the doc about it.. did a steroid shot.. have not had a problem with it since very thankfully!

Speaking of pins and needles, have you tried acupuncture? Many people have good results for all types of issues. My GF even gets it for her sinus infections to good effect. All this old talk has me trying to forget I'm 64 today. My medical ins. (Kaiser) even sent me a card reminding it's time for more tests and oh yea happy B-day. Haha The GF is taking me out to get some Doc Martens and a big seafood dinner. (Sadly the Blue Alligator boots are too pricey) love me some Fried Oysters, mm mm good!
