Well, gof's my friends I had quite a scare this week. Last week, my wife was sick with what was supposed to be a touch of flu. She kept getting worse, and by Sunday she was moaning and couldn't sleep. Monday I took her to the ER. We spent most of the day in there, blood tests, then scans, etc. They had a suspicion of what was wrong, but they wanted to be positive. They admitted her to the hospital. I of course freaked out. I lost my mom, dad, and brother, and last year, her mom passed. All hospital related. This was so scary. She was barely conscious but told me to hold it together and go home and get the house in order and take care of our dog, Shadow. He's a lovely soul, older, and such a great dog and friend.
It turns out she had blockage in her intestines of well, excrement that hardened. Sh had been trying a diet and there wasn't enough rouphage. So her blockage was hardened excrement. They put in an IV and filled her with bags of water and potassium, and electrolytes, and a "GI cocktail." Today she's no longer pale and feeling more like her old self. She was ordering me around and I irritated her a couple times and I was so happy when she told me. LOL.
Here's what I learned. After 29 years together, my wife is the best of me. She's the much better half of me. She knows me like no one else in the world. I can't con her, fool her, heck I can't even lie to her, she knows. She often knows what's best for me before I do. She reflects me and what reflects back is better than myself. In the beginning when we met I was a wandering minstrel and lived out of a trunk and two one ton Econolines with five other music people. I found gainful employment and glad I did, considering how awful the live scene is going. But when I went home last night the house was so empty. Everywhere I looked I could see and feel her.
I'm so glad she's coming home tomorrow noon. I'm so excited I'm doing laundry!!! And she never lets me do it! I'm polishing up everything and making it nice for her. She is the very best part of my life and I'm lucky to have her.
Thanks old farts for listening. Sorry but today I don't have a good reason to be grumpy. It's even sunshine outside!
