I remember when the first Mahavishnu album came out in whatever 71-72 a friend and I drove up to Seattle from Portland or. Back then it took about 3-4 hrs. On the way up we were so excited to see them we couldn't stop talking about the show. On the way home we were in so much sensory overload shock we literally didn't say two words all the way home. We firkin speechless.

Most of my LP's are original, most in good shape, many flood damaged and a real PITA to clean up. I get severe congestion cleaning them, need a mask. I'm sure, of all the different funk I see growing on the covers, some has to be hallucinogenic. There are some real gems with no jacket damage, mono Elvis, Hendrix, Iron Butterfly...

@Passinwind Boxsim is very cool! Thanks for the tip. I like that in addition to being great software, learning some German and a lot more calculated than winISD alone, t is also a stand alone program... no installation, can't mess with computer settings and libs. That was far enough back that I gave up looking for the posts. I did verify Boxnote's cut list comes out accurate, as long as you like their assembly. I prefer for finished wood to have the top not showing the other edges, but I used it on my 1 X 15 project because the sides will get vinyl covered.

That's not the 1 X 15, I just already had the screen shot saved. Not a big deal, but a small step eliminated, as long as you want the front to be the "full" side. The rest of the program I think is best done by other software.

After I get real cabs built and working, then take a break and do some machining, I'll do the BOZO901: BOZE901roughplan.png

Drivers are not to scale. Interesting results in Boxsim, but I had to use a coil or resistor for the front center driver. There are 5 in front and 1 on each side.

@Passinwind I really dig this chart:

It indicates what I wanted to see, you don't have to be in front of it to hear a reasonable freq response.

On the driver tabs (1 to 4 and 5 to 8 are separate tabs), it shows a with baffle line and a with crossover line. I have neither. Did I miss the place to tell it no baffle? I just left 0's in place for the baffle. Is that right? Do I just ignore the "with baffle influence" line, or do I need to set it to no baffle somewhere. I'm baffled :wacky:

I think the crossover is to just be ignored. For the missing speaker I tried L, R and plain wire. L and R were values measured with DATS. I didn't try L + R, the others made no significant difference from what I'm interested in.

In the top menu go to "drivers and enclosures", or the German equivalent if you're using the German version. There are 5 baffle choices, but no baffle isn't one of them. If you're measuring your own FRCs I guess it'd be worthwhile to build a DIN standard one. I guess I'd just use the smallest option otherwise?

The grump has gotten a hold of me again. Had an outside gig Fri. night. Three songs in and it started raining. Grabbed the plastic and covered everything up. Worked good for a while until the 50 MPH winds kicked in and we had to stand there holding the plastic over our amps while getting soaked. Could have been worse I guess and they paid us for the whole gig so not a complete loss. Then today , I'm out cutting the grass and my riding lawnmower took a dump on me. Spark plug thread is now stripped and I may have damaged the piston. Hope I can just heli-coil it and get it running again but if not , the thing is well over 20 years old so i can't complain too much. Pushing that old hand mower to finish the job was interesting but I'm getting too darn old for that crap.
Seahag (my lovely wife) just bought a truck. '96 dodge. Got a great deal on it but the tranny needs some work. Hoping that it's just a couple of modules that I can do myself. Even if it needs a complete rebuild , at the price she got it for , it was still a bargain. Looks like I'm gonna be busy for the next few weekends fixin' stuff. To add to the confusion (although it's not a bad thing) I have gigs booked for the next four weekends.
Yeah , I know , first world problems and I shouldn't gripe but I was hoping not to have to be quite this busy for the next few weeks. Carry on.:thumbsup:

Can you access the diagnostics on the shift control computer on a '96? That's pretty old for in-depth diagnostic info isn't it? I have an '02 and I think my info is pretty limited as well.

Yeah, but trans codes (and anything beyond the basic OBDII reqts) are often pretty "prehistoric" or "Neanderthal" in nature IME.

No computer access so far. Right now , I'm just going by symptoms and what a couple of fairly knowledgeable trans guys have told me. The trans shops around here all have a reputation for just doing a complete rebuild rather than just a repair so I really don't trust any of them. Gonna try a repair myself (under a hundred bucks)before I go the rebuild route. I'm not physically able to do a swap out anymore and don't have access to any decent equipment like a lift or trans jacks. I can do the governor switch and sensor just by pulling the pan. If it gets much more complicated than that , I'm at the mercy of the trans shops.

So this band I am with.. drummer says that he wants to add some more new country to the song list (it has a bunch on it now!) Even though they claim that they want to be a country music and blues music band.. they keep rejecting the blues tunes ( they are really not that familiar with blues, I can really tell!)
So I have been trying to find some "new" country music.. but I keep running into this song


So I am at a loss.. there was this one song, I thought it was a pop song that the guitar player wanted to do.. come to find out.. it was in the top ten on the country charts.. I was like

That ain't country.. far from it.. I don't listen to country.. umm. I don't listen to much radio either.. I am tired of the songs the local station plays over and over and over.. did I say they play that stuff over and over and over? I have enjoyed playing some "country", but I am not much for bubblegum pop music that it has turned into I have discovered.. maybe I am living a self induced sheltered life, for it appears I am severely out of touch with the current music scene.. to me, it appears that there isn't one really.. kind makes me grumpy!

Update #1. The lawnmower is kaput. Sleeved the spark plug and still no compression. Must have bent a valve pretty bad and as old as it is , it's not worth fixing it. Craigslist , here I come.
Parts for the dodge tranny are going to run about $250. Gonna have to wait for next weeks gig for the money.
