Colours mix differently as light than they do as pigments :meh:

Edit: it really is more brown than yellow

I probably gave more thought to how the nubuck strap would pair with the LPB bass than is likely wise to admit. Which, I just did. :banghead:

Repeating a tale in TL;DR form — a hobbyist accurately replicated (many of) the original Fender colours as fountain pen inks. The inks proved quite popular and were sold nationally until his death. He left no records of his work. The brand, and the ink, is no more.

Seeing as I'm in The States 'Till ̶F̶u̶r̶t̶h̶u̶r̶

Further Notice™, yes pickup trucks as far as the eye can see. Now can't say I ever wandered into that corner of the universe, myself. Well, sorta, maybe. The old stuff — Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard — that stuff I understand is as interpreted by Jerry and the Boys. The country twang in me are those Jerry bluegrass years with Old and in the Way, and New Riders of the Purple Sage and all the assorted sideshows.

One of my bass teachers told me his country gigs amounted to drinking contests with the drummer. He'd win because he could sit on his amp. He also told me about playing real gigs with real chicken wire. So to him those cruise ship gigs were pretty swanky, I imagine.

Respective of his own tales, one of his more [adjective] lessons is don't turn down work.

I've become selective with gigs especially freebies. I don't do freebies more than about a half hour from the house and it would have to be someone I know well or would like to gig with. I have sub'd with a couple of senior big bands for free. Fun gigs, pretty good players, and I like the directors. One I would join full time except it's at least 35 mins to rehearsal on Fri afternoons, then an hour+ to get home in rush hour traffic. I played a musical with that group. First time I had done that. It was fun but a lot of work and a lot of waiting in rehearsals for the folks on the stage to get their act together. Not sure if I will do that again.

Then again the school gigs have paid the same for 18 yrs - zero. But those are only 20 mins away and they will play my arrangements without smartass remarks, well, most of the time. lol.

And actually I'm none too keen to drive an hour home after load-out at closing time :meh:

I've performed in a dozen or so theater productions, including a couple of musicals. I would NOT want to have been in our orchestra pit! :rollno: One thing turned out great, though. The big finale for the Music Man. I talked the director into letting me lead the "band" through the theater, while the real band played. Crowd loved it. Didn't matter that the instrument players in the "band" had no idea how to hold or even fake playing. 'Twas hilarious!

Part of why I like working(when we do)with this band. We rarely play later than 2200. Home by 2300. Used to work 2100-0200. Even NYE, we were done @ 0015.
BTW, would take a good paying C&W gig in a heartbeat. Even have a 5er I can use.
