Reminds me very much of back in 1984 when I was a mic (there's that word, again) boom operator/sound assistant on a feature film.

BTW, would take a good paying C&W gig in a heartbeat. Even have a 5er I can use.

Beard is looking good. I’m a gray beard person as well.

We should start a “Santa’s Helper Club” on TB. Women automatically qualify since they are constantly busy during the Christmas season. Men need a gray beard to qualify. Lee Sklar could be the honorary chair since children often ask him if he is Santa.

My country band only played 50’s and 60’s music. Not that stuff that’s called country now. Working for Monopoly money would make a good country song.

I always liked the Tivoli Audio Model One. Good radio.

I’m working on my Marantz 2252B tonight. Fixed the volume pot, saved $90. Did a boneheaded thing and blew a 40 cent fuse. None on hand. Ordered a new one that wound up costing $40 with a few other bits that I don’t need.

When my dad decided to stop gigging out on bass, he passed his spot with the local Little Theatre group on to me. That lead to a couple of other LT groups, and a sweetheart of a connection with a musical director who provided the bands for the Music of the Theatre program at Sheridan College, just outside of Toronto.

Lots of good sight reading practice, and not a lot of standing around at rehearsals. Most of the time, they needed us to vamp the parts while they were getting their acts together.

The best part was being there for every night of a show, and seeing how lines would land differently from one performance to the next.

I loved working with the Burlington Little Theatre. It was mostly a vanity project for a bunch of aging expat British pros. Interesting contrast to the college gig. The students were all ambition and future potential, while the old folks were all experience and economy of motion.

One memorable season, I spent the fall watching a shockingly gorgeous 20 year old future star desperately try and fail to play a sexy vixen. That spring, I got to see an overweight 65 year old play the part to leering perfection, keeping the audience in stitches without even working up a sweat.

Weird stuff!

How funny. I'm driving through Kansas City, earlier today, and what comes on the radio? A strictly FM announcer, full of schmaltz, hawking Free FOGHAT Tickets for his listeners.
I immediately temporally displaced to 1974 and laughed aloud.....nay, guffawed! :roflmao:
