I do(or don't, depending on how you look at it). I only turn on the local news if I become aware that there might be something of interest, or the weather.

In the very earliest days of this alleged career thing when the masthead identifies me as "editor", I befriend an actress of no mean renown.

"I'm glad I'm not in the entertainment business," I say.

You are, dear, she replies.

And I am still waiting for someone to account for the shortage of strawberries on this ship!! o_O

What?? :wideyed: I'm not an addict. I can quit any time I want! YOU'RE an addict! :bored: You were here before me! So there! :p

I was here after all of you. 'Cause it's Holy Week. They're playing the Masters tournament, y'see. :D

Yeah, here in SE FL, I wear the same[stuff]all year, adding a windbreaker if it gets a bit chilly(which it does, contrary to what some folk think).
The two times in my life that I was the coldest were in Florida, and one time I was wearing a Navy surplus parka with the hood up and drawn.

Hot or cold, it's the humidity that'll get ya in FL. In the colder months, it soaks right through sweaters and such.
Yeah, fishing from the bank of the Indian River near Titusville, with a good breeze, that parka didn't stand a chance.

The other time was walking a block up the street in Crescent Beach one night to go to a Christmas Eve party as the wind was ushering in a nor'easter. Four people in a knot, scuttling along as fast as possible.

My brother looks at something similar, but for ships, I think on the Great Lakes or something. Paint drying is more exciting.

I used to enjoy going to a lock and watch ships pass through. Watching the water raise and lower was a slow process. On the plus side, there was a truck parked there that sold the best french fries and dogs.

The spring was always an interesting time to visit the port. When the ice would melt, bodies would float to the surface. I don't know if they were dumped off ships that spent the winter there moored to piers or if they found their way there through other nefarious means.

She was right.

Certainly nobody we know would have been involved in that, surely.
Looking at you, surely.

:D

Florida was large in my (very) local news today as my hairdresser tells me today she is moving to a town north of Fort Lauderdale (forget the name, north of Fort Lauderdale is unexplored by me). What she told me, and what I heard, being both illuminating, the salon owner introduces me to my new hairdresser.

Yeah it's kind of a nobby place :bag: where in times beyond the mask I'm offered a glass of anything (wine included). I come to think by now I have a pretty fair handle on how this whole deal works, and what I get out of it that I don't get at the strip mall. One tangible thing is an investment in a local economy. The ladies there work hard, no doubt.

Rode my bike to watch the planes at the airport when all I had was a bike. Sure seems I like airports. :wacky:

There's a bunch: Pompano, Deerfield Beach, Boca(Raton), Delray(Beach), Boynton(Beach), Lantana, Lake Worth, West Palm(Beach). They're normally referred to w/o the part in ().

I used to spend a lot of time on the observation deck at the airport.

Hairdressers find clients are more amenable when they are in a relaxed frame of mind. They also tip better.
Yep, I used to go to the airport in WPB and watch ops while listening on my scanner. Kinda frowned on any more.
Once saw a British made smallish jet transport(RAF registry) take off with the (now) late Prince Phillip at the controls and radio.
