I often donate equipment to schools or churches. I obtain a generous tax receipt which helps. Selling gear at a loss, forgetting about it, and gaining back your space isn't always so bad.
I was driven past Strawberry Fields yesterday. It was a Sally Army children home round the corner from where Lennon grew up. When it became famous, the gates were removed to allow tourists to visit the site. Sadly they are back up again due to the graffiti left by those tourists. The beautiful stone gate posts are literally covered with paint. 
Feeling a bit sad today as we fly out of Manchester for Toronto tomorrow at noon. It’s been great here with the family. All of them have tried their best to make us feel at home. I fear they have succeeded too well. <sigh>

Here on vacation? Here meaning in the US, although you are three or four reasonable sized countries away from me. Thousands of miles.
Last week I managed to get my home rack mostly done a restored the PA I picked up last year. Wife likes the PA and her new mic. She's even ready to learn geetar. This has taken over a year to gradually add gear to HER living room and spare bedroom. It's nice to finally see some results of my mind molding and psychological warfare.
Now I need a day to organize cables, get unused boxes of stuff out of the spare bedroom and get rid of my unloved KLH speakers. Then I should be able to setup in 10 minutes and tear down in 15, assuming there is beer involved. PA cabs and bass cab stay in the living room and the rest in the spare bedroom.

We safely home. Everything is OK with the house. The weather is awful with constant rain and flooding in some areas.
Had a bit of a problem at Manchester security. We always use our UK passports when visiting England. It makes things simpler at the receiving air port. Recently the Canadian Government enacted a rule requiring anyone travelling on a UK passport to have a visa!!!!!!! Even Canadian citizens!!!! How stupid!!
Now we’ll travel to the UK with our UK passports and come home on our Canadian ones! <sigh>

Neither..but they do get lots of hurt feelings and introductions to the real world when they piss me off. Running the in-school suspension program means I only deal with rule breakers...and I really have never been one to take a lot of guff from people.

I had a shop teacher that didn't follow the rules. Supposed to get a 2nd teacher as a witness, but he just got a large piece of wood from the scrap bin and drew out the paddle. Student got the rest of class to cut out his own paddle and if he removed any of the marks he would have to get a spade bit and drill big holes in it. Not very many got paddled in his class after seeing it once.
He smelled smoke by the back door that went to a maintenance alley. So he got a bucket of water and threw it on the couple guys that stepped out for a smoke. He said, oh, I thought it was a fire. No other punishment needed. Wet for the day was good enough.

Doctor wanted 27 days of taking it. Settled for 7 days after I explained that I would run out of heads to chew on.

As a person who has had this issue many times since around 2001 I understand your disposition. I found that good exercise and stretching helps in prevention. This has helped me greatly. The Doctor I saw last even suggested regular satisfaction in the area of sexual relations. Always worth a try!
Actually this happens only in the rarest of cases...kids get a choice many times, while other times the parents opt out of corporal punishment. It remains a highly effective deterrent with high school kids. FWIW I deal with low level rule breakers: skippers, persistent tardies, smokers, wise mouths, class disrupting, Romeo and Juliets, dress code violators...you know, the stuff we did when we were in school
